Going to look at a 997 at Cameron Sports Cars this weekend anyone had any dealings with them ? Their warranty seems to be the decider as only first 6 months gives good cover and a back to base one, where OPC seems more appealing.

You dont have to buy a car through the OPC network to get a full Porsche warranty they are avail on cars up to 14 years old and a car needs to pass a 111 point check £250ish and then can be covered at about £1k pa. this can be added after you have owned the car for 90 days so as long as your initial dealer warranty is full and covers the first 90 days you should be good to go . I would suggest getting the dealer to put it through the OPC 111 point check on your behalf and at your cost that way you know just what your into prior to purchase and can negotiate any points that need doing . Thumb

Cameron have a good reputation and are part of a smallish group of independents that have earned that over time. Many of these guys offer "back to base" it shows they're willing to stand behind their cars compared to offering a generic insurance based product where claims values are often too low and/or the cover has significant exclusions. This is often the case in the non-Porsche specialist dealers.

Porsche specialists back to base cover will vary of course, where I've bought my last 3 cars offers full cover for first 3 months and then remaining 9 months is drivetrain only, but I buy from them on their reputation and customer service and am comfortable with that.

When buying from an OPC it will come with a 2 year Porsche Approved Warranty which is great, but their cars are usually more expensive, partly because of the warranty which could be said is worth £2k and also the higher overheads they carry. It really depends what you're more comfortable with. You can mix and match, e.g buy from a good specialist and once their cover runs out consider a Porsche Warranty (or suitable non-Porsche warranty if you have mods for example) later.

I bought my 997.2 Carrera S from Cameron back in November 2016. I bought the car over the phone after a lengthy chat and photo sharing. The car was as described with an assurance any work which was required would be completed. The service was impeccable, although I had to wait 3 weeks for the car to be prepped which included removing the orange wrap on it. Prior to delivery, discs and pads were renewed, as were the aircon radiators. As well as the service history, I received all the invoices, including the dme reports from previous inspections. The warranty is flexible in that if you are a distance from them, reasonably priced work can be authorised at a specialist convenient to you. I didn't have to use the warranty and I very had zero issues with the car. I was introduced to the staff there who couldn't do enough for me.
If I decide on another Porsche, I would have no hesitation in using them again.

I nearly bought a green 997.2 C2S from them when I decided I wanted a .2 car. The car was a low spec, almost budget spec. The guys seemed helpful enough at the time.

I bought my c4s convertible from them last month and have to say that they provided the best customer service I have had in a very long time from ANY car dealership.

They are genuinely passionate about Porsches and I was given an extensive look around their facilities and their car collection (some of it personal and not for sale).

I had not seen the car pre purchase but it was in superb condition, prior to pick up, the car was given a full service and Ian and his team fixed minor issues that I quite honestly wouldn't have even noticed.

The warranty seems excellent too.

Would happily recommend and use them again.

Went up there yesterday but ended up not buying, still trying to get my head around spending nearly £70k on something that I would be the 6th owner.

Was it the silver GTS you went to look at ?
There's plenty of high number of 911s out there, for some it's an itch they have to scratch and then a short time later, it's scratched and the car is back on the market.
Was the cars history impeccable?

Lol...looks accurately priced for what it is spec etc, but yes, I know what you mean...you could probably spend 100K buying a Porsche and depending on variant, still not have a new looking or mint car for your money...market forces!

But thats true of a lot of high end marques...

Yes

Nice vehicle and full dealer history but they were sketchy on what gets
done as it had not been full prepped.

Warranty was not as appealing as OPC

"For the first 6 months or 5,000 miles of ownership we include our highly comprehensive Driver Plus cover, with zero excess contribution from the customer. For the remaining 6 months or 10,000 miles we will cover engine and gearbox internal failure for labour only with the parts being paid by the customer."

Actually for an Indie that's a pretty good warranty.

Porsche would also cover it after an 111 point check if you wanted to go that route.
