Hi all,
The 3rd of no doubt many posts to come from me as a newbie so please bear with me.

I'm looking for a quality double din unit to swap into my 2007 997 that'll give me Bluetooth & USB connectivity. Not worried about Sat Nav as Google Maps is better, I also have Bose upgrade so understand I need the connector kit.
Has anyone done this in a way that doesn't require any trim mods that they can share the make/model details of please? Also gives me the option to return the factory unit when I want it back in.
Don't want some chavvy cheap Japanese Christmas tree light up unit, a nice Pioneer, Clarion or something subtle is required.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Nick,

This is the type of fascia set up you need , available on ebay etc as well

Again there are a number of MOST interface units but this is what I used

Re the head unit have a look at the carplay units they are only a few hundred quid
I fitted an Alpine unit but you dont need to spend £6/800 to get a nice unit.

The other option is a dynavin unit this has the MOST interface already built in

this is something i NEED to do as i cant stand commercial radio,im to old for Radio1,not old enough for Radio2 so always have Radio6 records on in the daily driver. it kills me when all i have is FM,no ipod or bluetooth and i cant be arsed to go into the loft to find some CD's!!

And i know people say just to listen to the exhaust note :D

I have been waiting ages for Wifi enabled CarPlay head unit.. seems we may be close:

Thats a nice looking head unit , nice big screen but overall dimensions that look like they will fit the std double din fascia :thumb:

If you like that one it's probably worth spending a bit more and getting it's bigger brother -
http://www.kenwood.com/usa/car/excelon/ddx9905s/ higher definition screen looks nice.

I'd never considered it previously but I am starting to get tempted in getting a dash cam and this head unit integrates with their own dash cam - http://www.kenwood.com/usa/car/dashboard_camera/drv-n520/ Having had someone hit the Mrs car with no witnesses it becomes a case of your view v theirs.

Sorry if this is a daft question, but when relocating the ac unit on a 996 and installing a double din unit, is there any spaces left that require any fillers or say cup holders? It's my first 996 and I'm thinking of fitting the kenwood unit.

Hi Tim, your better off asking in the 996 subsection mate as its different doing it on a 996 to a 997 . there are loads of guys that have done it that can answer any questions you have. :thumb:
