Hi

Firstly I have just joined, I look forward to some helpful advice.

I am about to purchase an 05 - 997 with 44k. Are there any warranties out there that are worth having?

TIA

it depends on who you are buying from, dealer reputation is key

as a fair few so called after market warranties have been found to be worthless

Hi

I am actually purchasing it off a friend, however I am fully aware that when things go wrong it can be an expensive time. I am just seeing if any decent options are around.

get it PPI'ed (Pre Purchase Inspection) from an independent specialist or at a main dealer so you can get a clearer view of what you are buying

PPI's are circa £200-300+VAT

Porsche PPI

The only belt and braces warranty is Porsche's own.

A 111 point inspection at an OPC would cost £216 incl VAT.

If the car is standard ie. has no non-Porsche items fitted you can get a warranty for c£1100 (2 years c£1900). If there are any non Porsche bits fitted they'll advise you how much it will cost to replace them.

You normally have to wait until you've owned the car for 90 days before they allow you to buy this so if you decide to go ahead it might be worth getting the existing owner to buy it at your expense. He just has to sign a form to transfer it to you.

Great idea t8 getting the vendor to put a porsche warranty on it at buyers expense.

i have porsche warranty on my 05 c2s. Money well spent 18 months ago. To date i have successfully claimed for air con rads and front coolant pipes .

imo its a no brainer getting a porsche warranty on the cars that are getting older especially.

it can be a faff getting into the programme but once you are in the club, its sleep easy cigars milk and honey all the way

good luck with purchase
