It should do if yours is a 2001. The only thing to be aware of is the glass tends to be smaller than the plastic, so it does give a bit less rearward vision. I looked into it a while back when I had a 2000 Boxster and that seemed to be the only drawback.
"in 2003 Porsche upgraded the Boxster to a glass rear screen, however they changed the pattern at the same time making it impossible to upgrade the old cars with the new hood. BAS has produced a Glass window upgrade hood for this early car with a heated rear window that fits to the existing hood frame and requires no modifications to install. The hood is produced in exactly the same way as the new style Porsche hood only using our patterns for the old style frame,"
Over the years I have taken several options with this very problem.
The first time our blue 986 needed a replacement window as it had become stiff and was reluctant to respond to "the Boxster chop" so was beginning to tear from the stitching.
We had an Edinburgh specialist sew in a new plastic window and it was perfectly fine and £200 well spent.
However when the yellow 986 began to show the same issues we opted for the full new glass window option with a change of colour to navy blue. Much more expensive but looked fantastic. Definitely a smaller window, but the plug and play heated element was a definite bonus, that and not having to "chop" the window every time it went down was a great boon.
When the window on the original blue car began to show its age I bought a full roof and frame on ebay and fitted it myself. Pretty straightforward job, took just over 3 hours start to finish , if I remember correctly.
So, lots of options and I guess budget and how long you envision keeping the car should be the deciding factors.
