Went in today as per various forum recommendations and Peter is a great guy. Place is spotless which is always a good sign.

New wheel fitted and a once over of the car. Glad to say that Peter confirmed JZM inspection and my experience driving it that the car is in extremely good order. Had noticed the back end slightly skippy on the motorway with the rear passenger side control arm/ball joint being the culprit. New part ordered (£105) and will fit when I get my new wheels on the car. JZM had done a good job with the Waxoyl
too. Pretty pleased overall.

Always a relief with any older car when you find a good specialist

I totally agree with your views on how well the garage is kept and presented, it is always a good sign in my book.
Peter is such a genuine guy and very experienced. I always get the feeling that he relates directly to what the customer needs/wants and really works hard at getting the very best job done.

Plus the fact he is into his motor bikes, can't be anything else than a very good sign :thumb:
 
I'm sure Peter has done this, if the control arm joint is shot to the point you can feel it whilst driving make sure you check all the others and the rubber bushes too. Big culprit at the rear for movement are the A arms, they have a balljoint and two rubber bushes, these need to be in good order.

Unlikely that you will have complete failure of one component and all the others be fine.

Thanks. Yes I will have him go through properly when its in but it did look like this play was just in the control arm

I'm with you though, I think specialists often want to recommend the cheapest course of action as a counterpoint to OPC wanting to change every component part! Just takes a while of going to an indy and getting them to understand that you would rather take belt and braces approach... But still not be ripped off
