Gents,

I've got the opportunity to get a manual 2008 2.7 Cayman.

I know my 911s inside out but not too much about this car, does it suffer from the same issues as the 996/997? i.e. Bore scoring and IMS etc?

Is this a desirable model? or should I be looking at an "S" instead.

Is there any other known faults or issues that need to be considered?

Appreciate your time.

Cheers

NH

2008 2.7 is low risk for both bore score and IMS failure. Not impossible, but certainly unusual.

3.4 gen 1 is the only risky Cayman - high risk of bore scoring.

As for desirable and what you should be looking for, not really sure what that means. That boils down to asking people to tell you what to desire, which doesn't make much sense.

Only you cay say what you desire.

Nick as Pothole says :thumb: good advise . now buy it, stop worrying and get out and enjoy it. great mid engine drivers car  :thumb:

Cheers Chaps - that's good to know.

I'm just thinking about resale as I don't hold on to my cars for long - like to try as many as possible :thumb:
