Morning guys,

Hope we are all well.

So, on your advice ive got some ACF-50 Anti Corrosion 0.95L with Pump Spray and im about to book her in to my Indy so they can take the bottom off and lube her up for winter as she'll be in use most days - as she should be IMO.

So - lets say i've got a lazy Grand thats burning a whole, and she's already up on the ramps - whats should i get her that they can stick in? Don't really want to bust more than a G as ive got other stuff to buy but i could if i had to.

New Oil?
K&N Filters?
Zunsport Grills?

Ideas on a postcard pls. :thumb:

Cheers

Dan

I don't mind the look actually but not top of the list by any means. My tyres have tones of life left, BUT do winter tyres make That much of an impact?

Cheers

Dan.

Dan,

New tandem oil pump ?
The covers get really corroded but I hear it's just as economical to replace the pump, then coat with ACF-50.

cheers

Tandem Oil pump? OK educate me, is that just a new pump to replace what is probably the old original one or is it a better one?

It's a straight replacement. There are a few posts on the subject on this forum. My indy tells me that the cover corrodes excessively and eventually leaks oil.

The posts discuss the option of a new cover (£100 'ish) or a new pump (£250'ish), but I saw that fitting a new cover is not as easy as it sounds.

Most recommend a complete new pump which is more expensive and more labour, but then coat it with sealant. Depending on the age of your car, your local Indy will be able to advise.
e.g. Mine is 2009 and the cover is heavily corroded but not leaking so I will change summer when it's due a major service.

Dan spot on advise so far.

Tandem pump sits at back and bottom of the engine its cover is mild steel so due to its location it rusts really badly then leaks and eventually would cause you a servo problem. The pumps are made by pierberg for porsche and the best place to buy them is autodoc the one in the link is correct for a gen1 non turbo
and is less than half of the porsche price

re the grilles IMO the rennline ones are nicer looking that the zunsport as they fit from inside the bumper like OE ones so you dont the outer frame but they are a bit more expensive

gummi pflege put all round your door rubbers to stop the glass sticking to the rubbers on icy days.

braided brake lines only about £70/80 but well worth doing it improves hard braking is it prevents the hose expanding and causing the pedal to go soft .

BMC sports air filter to take full advantage of driving in cold air

new windscreen wipers
get battery checked

BRILLIANT GUYS - Thanks - that will do it :)

I bought the Rennline for my 996 but they didn't fit well and were very expensive for a bit of mesh and a few screws, I took them back.

I then bought some black aluminium mesh and stainless screws and made my own, about £20 rather than £200+, a better fit and the screws are stainless.....

Dan,

ebay is a good as any for the air filter

wiper blades are a more personal choice personally I like PIAA when looking its worth measuring yours as some are the same length and some have a longer PAX one :thumb:

Awesome, thanks. Just ordered :thumb:

Wiper blades - im guessing my Indy will have some good ones, any are better than the ones I have.

Good stuff

:worship:

I put Zunsport grilles on mine last year and yes they're not aesthetically pleasing but they do prevent a mass of crud getting into to the plastic shrouds. This debris, leaves, cig ends, sweet wrappers etc etc gathers against your radiators and the corrosion sets in, one thing I have found is that they're dead easy to put on and take off, this time of year they're invaluable.

ACF-50 is the business, put it on anything that doesn't get hot, especially brake lines and hose connections.

Wiper blades, I got mine from ECP (they currently have a sale on) and they were the Porsche/Bosch ones. The D/S blade has a curve to it so it's not a std blade.

Put a BMC filter on my last Gen 1 and TBH didn't notice a scrap of difference but anything that improves air intake should work.

Interestingly and I only found this out recently but I was told that BMC filters actually filter to a smaller micron particle that the stock paper filter , if that's true then its not only a better air intake but actually a better filter as well
:thumb: maybe someone can confirm if what I was told is correct or not. :?:
