Good shot thumbsup

He's been around a while on these shores, it was MK not Hull.

You need to be up a bit earlier then that to catch the worms on this forum Thumb

Clearly I'm new around here but I don't quite understand the point of this comment. My point to Mark was that he was probably fortunate to get a genuine pre-owned Aerokit as they aren't exactly ten a penny and I know Ricky was selling a kit earlier in the year. That situation may not repeat itself very often.

Rare colour, aerokit, black interior. So the only thing stopping you is a sunroof. Seems bonkers to me but it's your money and your search.

Mark

You have to see it in context - up to now, I had no idea that replacing the roof panel was in any way viable. I'm willing to put £15-20K into the car on top of the purchase price (engine rebuild (poss. 3.7) and any other work required), so I need the right "base" to begin with. No point doing that with a base car that isn't quite right. That's all.

Limey's is 99.99% there based on the advert (although I haven't viewed it).

Good luck in finding 100% what you're looking for, £15-20K is quite a healthy budget to add to the purchase price so you should end up with a super car Thumb

Whats the matter with a sunroof? Yes there is potential to leak and yes its a little more weight up high but in reality does it really make that much difference?
Ive loved having one on mine this summer TBH. Id be going to look at Limeys for sure.

Exactly what you said really. It can leak, it is heavier, it doesn't make much difference. I am changing the roof on my car because the roof needs a respray anyway, and by the time the sunroof parts have been sold off it only costs a relatively small amount of money.

Re sunroof, it's just one of those things that (perhaps a bit irrationally) matters to some more than others. I would never use a sunroof, I prefer the cleaner look, I want "hero" spec etc!

I tend to keep my cars and invest in them, so I don't want to be stuck with something that's nearly what I wanted. No more to it than that.

Horses for course but the sunroof thing sounds very marginal to me so I wouldn't let that break a deal. Especially as it seems its relatively straightforward to change.

But hey I bought one in a colour I didn't particularly want and have learned to really like it now. I actually don't believe you will find the exact car your looking for, your going to have to compromise to some extent. A bit like buying a house.

Look at it this way I bought mine after looking for a month at the same time as you started your search & Ive had 4000+ fun miles in mine. Thumb

Nothing wrong with holding out for what you want.

Personally I think sunroofs suck, I held out for a non-sunroof aero car for that reason, my 997T has a sunroof which I never use and nor do I like the look of it, but they were standard fit.

There are several threads with people replacing their roofs to remove the sunroof and this looks like more hassle than adding an aerokit or LSD. (I have never seen anyone adding a sunroof.)

History also shows that non-sunroof car hold more value and end up being more desirable

You may have to compromise but only you can decide where.

Each to their own, good luck Thumb

Sunroof was my only concession against desired spec when I bought my car,
I wanted aero,LSD,TC,M030,Cable throttle C2, Black sports seats and good mileage and history......... Took over a year but worth the wait and have enjoyed the roof over the summer after I sorted the rattles

marlb0ro

Thanks.
I've been to see that one Sunday before last. It's non-sunroof but it's not great:

- Forest Lake front tyres, Kumho rears;
- The split rim wheels look like they have simply been blown over with bronze paint and it's ***** (or the wheels are corroding);
- MOT history suggests it needs a suspension overhaul and an exhaust overhaul;
- Had a massive crack in the rear right side tail light;
- Interior was a bit (well?) worn.

That's from what I could see and I know nothing.
To get it to a "presentable" spec, would see you in at circa £20K I reckon for a 120,000 mile car.

There's a reason it's been for sale for a couple of months.
Also, the "dealership" are a pile 'em high, sell 'em quick outfit.
They have a fair bit of stock but they are not specialists and nothing looked particularly well prepped.

This car had leaves in the battery tray and was generally untidy.
Also, they tried the classic tactic where on being shown around by one salesman, another popped his round (nod and a wink!) "we've had a couple of offers on this just this morning". What little enthusiasm that was left waned after that.

No idea why there are asterisks in the above post, I think I typed "been blown over with bronze paint and it's bubbling".
