Classic Cars Price Guide

In the November issue of Classic Cars Price Guide they have introduced 996 values as a new entry. I am not sure how they finally arrive at these figures but they say they "consult specialists, clubs and dealers.....Insurance agents". That being said they propose a value of a 996 Carrera (both engine sizes) as £39,000 from a dealer. They then amplify their dealer's price by saying "this is what to pay for a top notch example". Have I been missing something as £20,000 appeared to be the mark for a super example?

I do recall a very low mileage 996 Carrera being advertised at an OPC recently for £36k but that's by far and away the dearest narrow bodied 996 I've seen on the market for some time.

C4S values have been slowing creeping up to £30k+ but even then I think it would have to be an exceptional example to be worth £39k.

EDIT: That said, this one's up for an awful lot more than that!

Nearly £50k for a 996 C4S. :?:

996 & 997 prices are all over the place. Guide prices tend to be for top-notch examples and therein lies the problem. What is top-notch?

I was talking to my insurer for agreed valuations and feedback was anything Turbo/GT3/GT2 and anything RS is climbing and valuations are reliable for Insurers to accept. Anything else and valuation submissions are being probed further to establish condition and benchmark versus what 'top-notch' looks like.

Interestingly enough Classic Cars also includes valuations for GT3s at £100,000 Turbos at £69,000 and GT2s at £129,000. Again taking the "top notch" condition figure.
