I think the beauty of the 993 lines are because of the delicacy of the original concept. IMHO later cars are not able to shed the weight necessary to achieve the immediacy of earlier offerings. It’s what has always drawn me to vintage cars (even veteran autos such as the Delahaye 135 or even a Riley Kestrel 12/4 Special) i.e. the lack of styling constraints intertwined with the absence of modern safety measures, means that older designs are often more elegant, graceful and, to a certain degree, artistic.

But then you would get that sort of response posting such blasphemy on a 993 sub-forum Grin

IMHO its not but thanks for posting the proof Floor

To be fair a 997 is generically (special editions aside) the 5th best looking Porsche so not the ugliest:

- 993
- 991
- 981/718 (not much in it)
- 964
- 997

ps black does not do the shape any favours Wink

Random straw poll in my office had the black 997 better looking than all the 993's, and not just because I have a 993 (I think....?). Anyway, rock up to a 993 post with a 997 and what do you expect! Wink

Now I'm off to hide behind the sofa! Splat

^^^ Thanks thumbsup

Let's have a couple more. Realise it can't compete visually with a 997T in black, with black wheels because that is too cool for school Grin
