Ignition barrel question

Hi guys, I've ordered a new ignition barrel for my '98 c2. I intend to fit it myself. I'm assuming I can do this without having to reprogramme anything including the key head?
 
yes straightforward DIY - no reprogramming required
 
Very common to require replacement at these ages also should have mentioned IIRC it one of those parts that's shared with other manufacturers I think it actually is a vw part so don't necessarily have to pay opc prices
 
Thanks for the replies guys. I've brought the barrel from Porsche as i want to keep the original key blade.
