Nice job. I was contemplating doing a similar wrap on my 993 after seeing the 996 that Gmund Cars recently sold: http://www.gmundcars.com/cars/5074/Porsche_996_Carrera

Love it, whats the difference between what you did and the wraps you say are not good when time to remove. Thumb

Thanks again. I wasn't sure how this was going to go down Thumb

Gazc2,
The wrap wasn't bought. It's a liquid rubber called Full Dip which is similar to Plasti-dip. You spray it on and in my case add various rust spots and damage as you go. I like to think of it as Rolling Art. Overspray wipes off easily. If you think of a beauty face mask, you'll get the idea. I've had this on my wheels for at least 6 months, all through the winter and they are still holding up.

Phil997,
I went on a wrapping training course a couple of years ago and wrapped our family estate car. When I came to take the wrap off it removed the lacquer from the edges of the bonnet and wings, even though I was removing it correctly with heat. It also took an age to remove and ballsed the car up. The wrap I used is a spray and easy to remove. I could get the Cayman back to original in about 2 hours.

Maxie,
Quite a lot of frowning going on at the moment. Ha.

Ah missed the clue in the title, I have watched the videos from the plasti-dip guy doing whole cars previously however don't think my artistic skill stretch far enough to pull off what you have done.

My only concern with wraps like these and the Skepple ones is that the 'rat look' (dirt, mud, scratches etc) is printed onto the vinyl as a design and doesn't look particularly realistic close up. Whereas with mine you can actually feel the fake rust - a mixture of acrylic artist's paint and various shades of shoe polish.

I didn't actually, but I may host a web page showing a few more shots and giving a bit more info. I may even be able to get a commission.

More I see, the more I like. Not that I think I would do it to mine. Guess you won't need to wash her in a while now either!
