Hi chaps, I have the chance to get into something more exotic which will involve the sale of my 993. I may sell privately or to the trade. I am interested in your views on what I should put the car up for.

Specification:

1995 Porsche 993 C2
Manual transmission
Aventura Green coachwork
Marble Grey Interior
155,000 miles on odometer

Standard specification with all literature in bookpack, full tool kit (incl. spare wheel cover, gloves & compressor in original packaging), all stickers present. A nice useable manual C2.

The car has had the wiper deleted (old part kept for re-fitting), spoiler insert sprayed to match body and new Koni sports shocks on H&R lowering springs (lowered 20mm). I have also removed the stereo and fitted an RS blanking plate to the aperture.

Full OPC & specialist service history (1 service missing from 2006) and all old MOTs. Stack of receipts in my ownership with circa 15k spent over the last 5 years. A few receipts from previous owners.

Cheers gents. I know it's another boring valuation thread but you love it!!

£30 to £35k private?

Are the wheels hollow or solid + does it have Aircon, hollow and Aircon I reckon £35k. Without, less

Just my two-pence

Privately I'd advertise at about £39,995 and expect a fair bit of interest.

Recent suspension overhaul will help as parts and labour are quite a chunk that's already been taken care of.

Point of Order, A 'bag' is £1k

I think you actually mean "one and a half Zingaris" :judge:

993

I would say £39'995. Manual cars are quite scarce, lots of targa, convertible and tiptronics out there but not many manual coupes. I think a dealer would ask around mid 40's so I would be unwilling to take much less than 40 for yours.

I do of course refer to the fabled "zingari". It would be like leaving the EU or the collapse of society should it happen, but there is a sniff of a chance of perhaps a glimpse of a deal to be struck here...

38k agreed value for mine ..... 140k miles , total suspension returb, I mean everything. Full OPC history very low owners . C2 manual coupe, working aircon.

I'd advertise at 40k. Accept £37500 . A 993 is 'cheap' compared to a lot of old ropey classics out there these days.

Worth far more than 30k imho

the only trouble is at £35k sort of pricing you are up against new kids on the block like a brand new RS Focus, or a newer 911, lots of cars abound at 35k. does a collector want a car with 155k on it? no, and would someone want to trackday it perhaps, again with an eye on engine life. its a fine car, with higher end mileage, so the market will be slower i guess to jump in. if the seller can wait, he may get a decent return.
or Zingers might just re-evaluate a standard unit to £30k and step in perhaps?

My rationale fwiw - just because we all know a 993 with 140k miles is just getting started, that doesn't mean the market won't still adjust based on a mileage that high. Plus Av green is an awesome colour but tends to be the least desired colour on a 993.

Portiacraft was struggling to sell 993s in the late £30ks last summer with miles far below this manual c2 etc, told me themselves, and that's a dealer not private. Honestly think the mkt has been pretty flat since then.

It's going to be an enthusiast who desperately wants a 993 but whose budget limits them to have a chance at the lower mileage (100k miles-ish) manual cars, which seem to

Anyway, let's see, I really hope you guys saying higher are right!

*seem to hover around the £40k mark.

Sorry previous post froze

I understand where your coming from, however I had a brand new 718 for the day last week as a courtesy car. Bloody fabulous but within an hour I wanted my dear old 993 back ...... it (to me at least) was just a little to boring and clinical and I'm pretty sure there are others out there that feel the same. An old 911 aircooled is an occasion to drive, though I'm first to admit not as a daily.

Old TR4s in good shape are knocking on the 30k benchmark, TR5s 40K plus, and a decent resto I really haven't seen yet. Old Mini Cooper S are at times 30K plus and all seem to be selling. They built 76k Coopers, I believe there was only around 1K 993s sold in the UK. There will never be another 993, and just the pleasure of owning a good one makes mileage irelevent imo.

I agree, and if the car was half the mileage at £40k I'd be tempted again myself. Aircooled is cool! I'm sure it will sell as we all know how good solid a car they are. Having done a few jobs on mine the engineering shines through. Modern cars aren't built as well I suspect!
Good luck to the OP and let's know what it fetches eventually. I agree with his comments about a flat market, unless it's a low mileage S or 4S the rest are slow to sell.

Matty, (Just checking you are not the "Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells" who writes into the papers! :) ). I'd refit the radio (while the sound of zuffenhausen's flat six is music to one's ears it's helpful to hear the radio 4 shipping forecast). It rains in Kent, so I'd refit the rear wiper as well. (of course it spoils the lines but seeing someone behind you in the rain is great). Make sure it's parked in the garage or in the shade prior to potential buyers come to see it, as even if it does have a/c, it's nicer to hop into a cooler car during the summer. As for price, 35,000, but you would put a higher price than that and be negotiable. I hope I am wrong and you get more money!
