Can i humbly suggest you follow the test plan as the fault code refers to a wiring or control unit fault .

Watched he video and found a German seller for the part. The filter and oil were changed around 5,000 miles ago. If I just replace new fluid the filter be ok I guess? Do I need to orde any other electrical, parts? Do I need a gasket for the gearbox sump? The video said there was no gasket as its metal? Did not sound correct? Sorry to be asking such basic questions but it's not really my forte I'm afraid.

Demort it's my plan to show the test plan to the garage which replaced the exhaust and see how confident they are at following it.
I am concerned about the costs and indeed who I can trust to repair the fault. Is it possible to replace the wiring looms which may be at fault? My problem is I'm away again tomorrow night until Friday then I'm away again in another four days. I get little time to chase these things and I'm looking to cover all the bases if necessary. I don't know a Porsche specialist near me I'm afraid.

Filters are cheap, the oil is quite expensive (£10 a litre iirc) and the plates are readily available for just over £100. About two hours labour. Any Porsche or Mercedes specialist will do the work without problem. It should cost less than £400.
Research limp home mode on Mercedes 722 gearbox. Stuck in second and only reverse available.

There must be some decent indy around that part of the world. It just appears that you have little time to sort this and trying this and that costs money and time. The list of possibilities is mounting up. Can someone here recommend a good indy that you have your car trailered to and let them sort it out?
Alternatively there is OPC Leicester - and they can collect the car if its driveable.

Found a local bloke who seemed to know what he was doing. Does auto transmissions for dealerships apparently. Coming out to check the connections/ wiring and test/ diagnose and hopefully rectify my issue. He is mobile which is a big advantage. Start at the beginning with a specialist bloke I think is my best way forward and I am Away until Friday anyway.
