Hi All,

Apologies: not been about for the last year or so - to cut a long story short, lots of family issues leading to general disinterest in the car amongst many other things.

Anyhoo, update? Still got the 996 - year 5 now. What's gone wrong/right?

Well, last year I had a faulty power-steering pipe that turned out to be a bit of a pantomime to get sorted - took a WEEK to replace one pipe. Needless to say, won't be going back to my local "specialist".

I had a faulty ballast resistor. Bought a replacement and got round to fitting it (proper splicing/soldering & self-amalgamating tape job) - can't really check it at the moment due to the stupid temps going on. Pretty sure it's working though
The next developments will be a refurbing the wheels, getting a service done, and replacing an A/C condenser (replaced them 4yrs ago and have had a stone chip!), oh and MOT time when I get back from holiday.
Umm, aside from that, got 2 new front tyres to put on (prior to MOT)

That's the bad stuff - general wear and tear tbh.

She's sat on 111k now.

So, I'm debating what to do next - I would like to look at a turbo, but wife is also keen on a Panamera (!).

I've been driven to work by my daughter - she's learning to drive (not in the Porsche!) in a 1.2 Clio, so my car doesn't get the driving it did (at the moment). Certainly makes an event when I go out in it - having 4x the bhp! :D

So, that's me. What have I missed? :bandit:

Hi Dan, wondered what had happened to ScoobyDoo! Glad to hear you still have the car, this is my fifth year of ownership too.... Time flies!

Your wife has good taste, was thinking of doing the same thing earlier this year but saw sense

If you do fancy a look at a turbo, shout, I'm not very far from you in the grand scheme of things.

Cheers, Mike

Nice one buddy :)

Yeh - simply a case of "head down" tbh :( But c'est la vie.

FWIW, I'm always over the Cotswolds way with trips to various studios and audio companies ;) My fear is that the temptation to change is strong lol

Even toying with chucking it back at Hartech and spending some money on bigger mods.
Car ain't worth much anyway :floor:

Welcome back, been a good few years for me but managed to remember my log in today

:welcome: back to both of you.

Dan, I was in the Cotswolds myself last week. Burford (Wildlife park) on Friday, RAF Fairford on Saturday. I found some nice roads too.

Welcome back Scooby and Smigga.

Scooby your audio upgrade list looks impressive. My car doesn't even have door speakers (there are pockets there) so it sounds pants. I'm loathe to change it from standard but might have to do something as on a roadtrip it would be unbearable. I wear my iPod if I'm on my own and doing a motorway stint but that wouldn't work if I had the missus with me.

Smigga, nice fleet. NC30 was my first bike. Beautiful in design, size and sound. Great bikes. Enjoy. :thumb:

Cheers, nice to be back, sorry for jumping in on your thread Scoob! The nc30 was my first 'post test' bike too, I saw a fully rebuilt model in the same colours last year and decided to get it for posterity. I actually love to ride it! Inch perfect smooth as silk at 25!
The z650 is a cafe project not far off done, keeps me away from the women folk! Just got rid of my sports bike, too dangerous...

Hey, no worries Smigga - come one come all 😂

Yeh, the audio is getting another upgrade as the F900 is getting on a bit now - only realised this week that its 9years old!
But TBH, I invested in the the machine when it was £4-figures, and it has done the job perfectly (when pioneer finally got their ***** together with the OS!), and when I modded it (thanks to the Avic Forums), it transformed into an epic piece of kit.

But time and tech moves on: it won't do Bluetooth streaming and the radio is a little sketchy. After having both functions in the wife's car, they are items I want, along with an updated sat nav. We'll see though.

The subs are punchy, but not Barry-boys, so I happy with that (although I do like bass that makes your testicles resonate! (What can I say, I'm a music producer!) again, it might be time for an upgrade.
Got a busy summer of car work -service, AC repair and new front boots ahead of me and I'm now always thinking of "what next"....... #turbo 😜
