Good luck with the sale but I think you might of just labbeled yourself. |
The private reg market is worth millions in the uk. Over the past few years I have sold a few 5 figure plates, so I'm confident. If it doesn't .... so what...no big deal. | .
Funny you say that as I have a good understanding of the market myself, I have a two number 1 digit plate along with trading related plates and I sold SPR34D for a profit after a girlfriend pointed out that the girls in the office thought I was being rude and didn't relate to trading so when you get to six figures let me know.
You should buy 09 and corner the market. _________________ Audi B7 RS4 avant, Mercedes W124 E320 Sportline cabriolet, Mercedes 560 SEC, Caterham R300S race car, Caterham Supersport 1600 Race car, Toyota LJ70 Land Cruiser, JCB telehandler

5 figures, not 6 figures (I wish).
TUR 80 would be worth a small fortune right now. I think I've seen it at one of the private auctions (Not DVLA) a good few years ago, can't recall how much it went it went for. _________________ Porsche 996 Turbo X50 with 9e exhaust

I'm sorry but your logic does not stack up. We have several £150k plus plates on company cars and your logic simply does not apply to plates. What you are actually stating is that if you can afford a £1m car you are prepared to pay we'll over the odds. In my experience it's the complete opposite. Most people with that sort of change know exactly how much money is worth. A plate is a commodity to them not an experience which they are willing to pay way over the odds for. The plate is worth less than £1k and I'm being generous. _________________ "Imagination is more important than knowledge" Einstein

Jonttt nearly nailed the valuation. But as usual over-egged it
Very true chum, you need to take emotion out of the deal. Alas that is where my wealthy chum trips himself up by buying things after a few snifters _________________ Me? The 13th Duke of Wybourne? Given that you've hooked into this market, can you advise why the 04 plate is 20k and the 09 plate isn't? Just curious |
So am I
In fact bewildered sums it up better.
This is before i started wondering why post the ad on Porsche enthusiasts forum?

I've looked at it about 20 times now and I can't help but keep thinking LOAFER..........a person who avoids work and spends their time idly.
Maybe I'm missing something.

I'm still walking round in my Tommy Ball loafers doing a Benny Hill with them tied together with string. _________________ 2000 Manual 996 C4 Arctic Silver Convertible

I had a few good pairs from there in the 80s Shuffling with the string was hard work _________________ Me? The 13th Duke of Wybourne? Here? In a sixth form girl's dormitory? At three o'clock in the morning? With my reputation? What were they thinking of?

Have been dealing with number plates as a part-time thing for a number of years and its been ok thanks.

'We know number plates are for the vain' ........
Good statement .... which isn't true at all , not to mention , not very businesslike .....I wouldn't be buying a plate from a shyster who made statements like that ..... can't even respect his market .... don't seem to know it very well either , looking at the valuation ...... doesn't even look anything like 'Trevor'..... so I'm out ....!

OP, My question still goes unanswered as to why the 04 plate is worth £20k in your eyes and 09 plate is worth £250? I'm not trying to show you up in any way, just trying to understand in case an opportunity should present itself. _________________ 997.2 Carrera 2S GT Silver/Cocoa.

In the not so distant past a few savage retorts would have fired in long before now for this effort to hoodwink a chap .....
I'm also not getting how he thinks this is the right forum to sell a number which to a passing blind man on a galloping horse might somehow think it might be related to a Modena product?
I mean , I know some Chaps have a wee red toy in the garage but surely the market is limited here? _________________ Cayman GT4 Carmine red .. at last it gets the goodies it should have....

Pretty disappointed. In have always tried to be honest and courteous to everyone on this forum and have received great advice from many on here
Nevertheless, all I have received is abuse from FZP, 911 TEL and others is abuse like 'a shyster like you' (911TEL). 911 TEL is this necessary?
No one from this forum has met me, yet I receive these rude and offensive remarks.
Yes, I've sold it and I am happy with the price. The person who bought it is happy too. He can afford it, I couldn't afford to buy a plate like that and wouldn't if I had the money. I didn't make him buy it. So what is it that I have done wrong.
Is it because I made a profit? that I always aim high in life? Didn't know I had to abide by rules of Karl Marx and Lenin and that this was the British Community Party / Socialist Worker website.
Sorry
