Cayenne Extended Warranty

Hi Guys

I bought a 2012 cayenne 3.0 diesel (done 56kk miles) earlier this year privately which came with Porsche extended warranty; this was transferred into my name

I had the car inspected by a Porsche specialist and he highlighted the following problems

Oil leak on the back of the engine – engine out job
Rear shockers leaking/misting of oil
I myself noticed the silver boot lip trim appears to have tiny bubbles behind it?

So I booked my car in at the local OPC and they told me they will carry the repair for the oil leak under warranty, but won't do anything about the shockers as it's a wear and tear item, and they wouldn't do anything about the silver trim as it's a cosmetic problem?

I would thought shockers should be covered and certainly not a wear and tear items like tyres and brake pads?

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

The oil leak on the transmission bellhousing is a known failure point and a MASSIVE job - so count your lucky stars you've got OPC warranty and they'll fix it :thumb:

If not you'd be looking at £5k+ unless they'd offer up some good will given they know about the fault but don't go overboard on publicising it or to the extent of recalling all 3.0D affected. When I bought mine the first thing my Indy said was "You do know about the oil leak on these?" :what:

My understanding is it will happen to all of them at some point to varying degrees of leak  However look forward to a nice courtesy car whilst yours will be in for a week.

Now suspension is interesting. What is the expected wear and tear age/miles for them :?: Have they failed prematurely in which case they might offer some good will? Read what it says in the warranty booklet to understand how they class suspension parts. Failure and wear and tear should be distinct.

Not sure on the bubbling trim

ETA from the Warranty booklet:

Visual and acoustic concerns, ageing and wear
are not defects and are therefore excluded
from the warranty. Highlighted below are the
parts that are typically subject to wear and
hence the cost of their replacement is unlikely
to be covered by the warranty.

Shock absorbers are in the list. Is it a defect or wear and tear? I thought leaking shocks will fail an MOT as well?

Also 'Unlikely' doesn't necessarily mean 'exlcuded' :hand:

I have the bubbling rear trim as well which is excluded from the warranty.
