Event starting Sun Sep 10, 2017 7:00 am for 2 days

Update 9th August.

All spaces have now been taken.

Earlier update.

Sunday 10th September.

Scenic Tour through Belgian countryside including lunch.

Evening meal and Hotel in Spa town centre.

Monday 11th September.

Be at Spa Circuit for 9.45 am for 2 x laps and tour of facilities.

pm. Head home either direct or via a couple of scenic towns.

COST:

Shuttle = £60 for next day return
Hotel = Lots available for c£80 B&B
2 laps and tour of circuit facilities = c£20 per person

Please scroll down to the end of the thread for latest details.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ORIGINAL THREAD

At the moment this is just to ascertain if there would be any interest but if there is interest I'm happy to put together an itinerary and to co-ordinate things for some time in September.

This link to the Spa Francorchamps website explains the detail but the headline is:

Drive 2 laps of the fantastic Spa GP circuit followed by a guided tour of the pits, paddock, control tower etc.

LINK ==> http://www.spa-francorchamps.be/en/guided-tour

If we could get 10 cars the cost for a private group would only be £30 a person. Any passengers or additional cars would reduce this cost even further.

With regards to the trip itself it is one that could be done in one day but as Spa is over 200 miles from Calais it would make for a very long day!

My personal preference would be to travel the day before and return straight after the event taking advantage of the cheap 2 day return (c£60) available on Le Shuttle. This would allow for a relaxed journey out and a decent tour of the Belgian countryside.

i.e

Sunday. Morning Shuttle to France. Travel to Belgium. Stay overnight within 30 miles of Spa.

Monday. Travel to the Spa Circuit for late morning arrival and leave afterwards for an evening Shuttle home.

Obviously others may want to travel out on the Saturday and/or extend the trip afterwards but discussions about that can take place at a later date.

I'd be looking to go on Sunday 10th or 24th September.

It's the 'Spa 6 hour' on the 17th so I don't know if the tours will be run on Monday 18th Dont know

Even if it is open I suspect that the area will still be very busy.

I've got LOTS of experience of running tours to Spa so have plenty of options...

The roads to get there and the surrounding area (including a day in the Eifel to Nurburg) are excellent Very Happy

I'm also about to launch some packages for the Spa 6 Hours in Sept.

If you want any help please feel free to get in touch Wink

Cheers,
L'rs

I could very well be interested. I did similar in my last car and it was a really good few days out. Not too far, which means it's easily manageable, but far enough that it's special!

I spent an extra couple of days, and opted to spend 2 days at Spa on Track Days and a day at the Nurburgring which is also within driving distance and some fantastic roads to get there.

There's plenty of accom. in Spa itself, otherwise AirBnb might be a good shout.

very interested in this as planning to do Monaco, SPA and Bealieu next year as a trip if it aligns (See porsche SPA day thread).

T8 - 10th works but 24th is too close to a different trip.

Longers - will pm you about the 6HRs packages.

I've sent an e-mail to the organisers to check availability/times for Monday 11th September.

Le Shuttle return fare. Out on Sunday 10th, back on Monday 11th = £60 return.

NB: If anyone is being hampered in considering this trip by their The Wife ....... I'm taking mine so 'other-halves' are welcome. The added bonus is that it helps get the cost per person for the pits-tour down. Very Happy

I've been advised by Spa that they could accommodate a private group on Monday 11th September with the Pit/Paddock/Control Tower Tour starting at 10am followed by a short break and the Parade Laps at 12.05pm.

Obviously this would mean staying at a hotel quite near to the circuit the night before but I don't see that as an issue. It also leaves plenty of time for either a detour or a relaxed journey home that afternoon.

I'd be happy to go if we can get to 6 cars / 8 people as this would make the cost £40 each. Obviously the more we get the more the cost per head will come down.

On that basis ........ if you're interested please stick your names down below asap.

Terry - I'm Interested, but can't confirm yet.

Do we have any idea how slow 'reduced speed' is?

Fingers crossed Belgian 'reduced speed' will be faster than Goodwood parade laps but I suspect it will be fairly leisurely rather than 'trackday lite'.

Thumb Rob. When I get 6 'definites' I'll go ahead and book it. There's room for 15 cars in a session so others can be added.

Anyone willing to commit names to the 'definite list 'asap will be greatly appreciated.
