Off in a couple of weeks on a 6 day trip to drive down through Belgium and in to Germany to Stuttgart for a tour of the Porsche factory and museum. Coming back via Munich (quick visit of the BMW factory) and across to Metz before heading north to Calais.

Anybody else done this trip before - any recommendations for visits and attractions?

Would love to do that trip taking in the 2 museums.

Look forward to hearing and seeing all about it!

Have a trawl through the Track day/Roadtrips and events forum.
Various routes, there and back, down to Stuttgart are explored and shared.
Happy reading, and hope your trip goes well. Part of the fun is in the planning.

I would love to take one of these road trips, especially as the car sits mainly in my garage these days. Look forward to hearing about your trip. Good luck!

The Porsche Museum is great, as is the Mercedes one in the same city.

BMW one is pants though, its not laid out nowhere near as good as the Porka one or Merc one.

Drop into Colmar in france, It's like a little venice. Lots of places to eat good food!

Spa race track is bottom end of Belgium too, and if you do your research, You can actually drive on area's of the old race track - which is very cool :)

Did a similar thing last year.

We went to Brugge (Belgium) which was delightful..

Then to Stuttgart (passed by a place called Stein which happens to be in Holland (but on the way), and also stopped at the Nurburgring.

Came back via france...

Roads are lovely to drive - and all quite straightforward. Read the threads on here - tells you everything you need to know.

In Stuttgart, we just got Taxi's to the porsche and merc museums - nice to have a break from driving. Did both in one day.

Enjoy!

I can thoroughly recommend Chimay as an early stop in Belgium. It's 160 miles from Calais.

Just outside the village you can stop here for a photo opportunity.

If you fancy a bite to eat the Auberge-de-Poteaupre is very nice.

Once you're into The Black Forest you'll find loads of superb roads. The run across from Baden-Baden to Stuttgart is particularly nice.

It's well worth setting aside a whole day to just drive around the area - even if you end up doing the same ones twice. :D

If you are coming through France via Metz and are going near Reims stay at the Chateau d'Etoges, wonderful proper chateau and has an incredible restaurant at very good prices then down the road to some of the best champagne you wont of heard of, Francois Vallois to fill up the 911 :)

Staying at Chateau d'etoges on the last night of our trip round France next week! Good to hear good things about it!!

+1 for Chateau d'Etoges,.... Lots of great champagne in that area....Ruffin et fils is 500m from the hotel so good to walk to as well. Mrs G2 has decided brexit might affect her champagne supply, so heading out in September (in the T5 Van though).

Ronam2012. guessing you are already stopping for a photo at Circuit de Reims-Gueuxe outside Reims..........

Mikezulu..Germany, depending on agenda/passenger the Neuschwanstein castle is worth a look, it is a roundways route from Stuttgart to Munich with some different roads.

Just back from a trip but instead of northern France we went through Luxembourg (cheap fuel) and Belgium, staying in Ghent for our last night. Great place to visit and a nice run home today.
