Posted: Fri May 05, 2017 12:50 pm Post subject: Agreed valuation - again!
I'm not on here much these days, but given my past experiences I appreciate these threads cause a rolling of the eyes!
It's time to renew the agreed valuation, so what does everyone think? And to be clear I have no intention of selling! Currently on for £45k;
NB manual C2 VR AC (working, cost lots!) 17" Cup 2's
105k
Owned by me for 9 years!
Serviced annually, & on time by OPC's and for the last decade by well known Indies - three inch thick folder of receipts, almost all service bills
Former Paragon car
FSD's, new springs, top mounts & ARB's
RSR's
HID's
Chassis legs inspected, cleaned, treated, repaired
Continental DAB radio
New leads, caps etc
Detailed bodywork & interior - leather is almost immaculate
Sports seats
Cheers for your input! _________________ 1996 C2 Manual Polar Silver

agree with Chris. Closer to £50k, in terms of what funds you would need to buy a replacement car from a dealer if yours was wrecked. fyi have mine set at £45k and it is non vario, non aircon, and 114k miles, pss10s. _________________ current: 993 carrera coupe, manual, iris blue, bilstein pss10

Movement seems to have been less rampant this last year; I expect a lot of us will end up with close to prior year valuations for insurance purposes. _________________ Good cars can get you from point A to point B. And great cars? Well, they'll just get you into trouble.

Just renewed mine with Classicline and I didn't see the point in agreed value. The classic car market is solid and if the worst did happen it would probably cost more than 45-50k to replace it, providing you could find a good one.
I could see the point if you had a 250GTO, Gullwing Merc etc.
Just my 0.02p's worth.

Thanks fellas.
THE most important thing I forgot to mention was that it was Kim's first 993, surely must add quite a bit _________________ 1996 C2 Manual Polar Silver

I see the logic in taking a market value approach, however the quality and pricing of these cars varies too much for me to trust an insurer to do the right thing by me at settlement time. I'd much sooner know what I'm getting and take the downside if the car were to climb above that value in the year. _________________ Good cars can get you from point A to point B. And great cars? Thanks for the replies fellas, appreciated.
I too see the point re market value, logically it should be easy to prove to an insurance company how much it would cost to replace (though that said it's frankly irreplaceable given the amount of time & money spent on it) but I just don't trust them.
Mine's also with CL, & I know Dom had a successful claim years ago via them.
One thing that I do know is how little they seem to have gone up by as compared to 964's & 3.2's, quite incredible given where the market was when I bought in May '08! _________________ 1996 C2 Manual Polar Silver

Personally I don't see a lot more to be had. But I'd say the good cars are unlikely to go backwards.
Who knows they might? Do I want to sell now? Erm nope. _________________ Good cars can get you from point A to point B. And great cars? Well, they'll just get you into trouble.

prices seem all over the shop. if i had a write-off tomorrow and had to replace there's two cars currently for sale pretty matching my spec & mileage.....one at £53k (non-specialist dealer) and one at £43k (private) bet the £43k one has some hidden secrets.... _________________ current: 993 carrera coupe, manual, iris blue, bilstein pss10

I dont think it's a secret it's over-priced given it's not POA _________________ Me? The 13th Duke of Wybourne? Here? In a sixth form girl's dormitory? At three o'clock in the morning? With my reputation? What were they thinking of?

My car sounds almost like it could be the twin of yours acme and I've just sent my valuation form to Admiral this week. I stated replacement value of £50,000.
My history file already includes a valuation certificate from them at that amount to the previous owner which would have been valid until January 2018 so I am expecting them to agree it. We'll see. _________________ Current: 993 Carrera Coupé, Manual, Varioram

From what I can see in your pic does look the same, mines Polar with midnight.
I'm the 9th owner! And by far the longest one too. I traced the previous owners, almost everyone owned it for two years except the first three; first it was a demo, second owned it for two months (related to the OPC I think), when I asked her she said she could remember the red & yellow one but not the silver one! Third owner wasn't a Porsche guy, preferred Astons, his wife bought it as a birthday present, well she paid £1k deposit, he had to cough the other £55k! _________________ 1996 C2 Manual Polar Silver
