275/35/18 on the back of a 996?

Hello,

Quick question...

Is there any reason why I can't/shouldn't fit 275/35/18 rears to my 996.1 C4?

The fronts are 235/40/18 and the rears are currently 285/30/18.

The wheels are Sport Classic II.
The current tyres are N rated PS2 but I'd like to go for the PS4...

Thanks! :thumb:

Have you gone up a size on the fronts already? OEM size for the front on a C2 is 225/40/18.

Generally you don't want different sizes front and back on a 4x4, but if the fronts have gone up the difference might be in tolerance. I don't know what that tolerance is though...

It's a C4 and I think 235 was standard fitment?

Nope - only on the GT2 and gen 2 GT3 with the 996. Even the Turbo had a 225 front as standard.
[Though that said: moving to GT3 sizes is not exactly an uncommon practice].

Hmm, when I put my reg in to one of the tyre websites it shows 235/40 and 285/30...?

Anyway, I'd rather go slightly narrower all round for a bit more chuckability, and slightly taller sidewalls at the rear.

Anyone have 225/40 and 275/35 on a 996 C4?

Thanks for any help.

That means a full set of PS4 will be £540 fitted at Kwik-Fit.

Can't say fairer than that really... Except for the 19" Pilot SuperSports I put on my Aston which were ~£650 fitted (eventually, once I found a place willing to do some 'artistic' jacking of the car, the jacking points on the V8 Vantage and DB9 are ridiculous)!

Odd because reading through old posts (circa 2015) people were saying that £720 for a full set of fitted Michelins was a bargain. Have tyres really gone down in price over the last two years?

N-rated tyres cost more than non N-rated tyres (i.e. PS2 N-rated cost more than PS4), that will be the bulk of the cost difference.
