Full OPC up to date service history, plenty of money spent

Good colour interior combo

£17500

Get a Pre Purchase Inspection carried out by a specialist with cylinder bore checks included and you should find your answer.

Sound about right.
If the engine is good then pretty cheap, if engine not sound then not cheap enough.
Be interesting to see what the WBAC price is....

I highly advise a PPI and borescope and as an 05 you will almost certainly need to factor in 1k to have the IMS bearings upgraded unless your very lucky and someone else has done them already.
its not cheap cheap but maybe £1500 under priced make sure its not damage repaired as they often are a bit cheaper.
the C2 manual is the least likely to give you issues with borescore but you still need to get it scoped during the PPI
7k pa is considered ave for 997s so the mileage is a little high but not scarily so.

Colour and spec do play quite a big part in the price of these so to get a true idea we need to know int/ext colour and what spec eg bose, sports seats etc etc.

Hope that helps :thumb:

I take your point and can arrange for a PPI, but if it does checkout does the price seem about correct / slightly cheap /cheap / too cheap?

A good price for a car with no issues but could be hiding a hefty bill if the engine does not check out. Pay £300 for top PPI and if it checks out as being fundamentally sound then it's as cheap as they will come without having 'history'

What the spec? It can make a good couple of £k difference if it's got all the right extra!! Does the service history come with invoices if so check them thoroughly and see if ims is done. Good luck!

As its a private sale you will not have the warranty and protection buying from a dealer gives you. So satisfy yourself that the car is a good one mechanically and has no crash damage or poor repair from such.

Choose a specialist with a lot of marque experience and knows how to interpret the borescope results. Failing that, consider aN OPC 111 point check and pay extra for borescope. OPC will flag up any non-compliant items that are not Porsche original fitment such as battery and then you can use your judgement on the result.

If it's got full PSH and is a standard car I'd get the current owner to put an OPC warranty on it before he sells it to you.

The 111 point check and the warranty will cost you about £1300 but it will give you peace of mind worth all of that.

There is a lower mileage C2S, nice spec and with full Hartech rebuild on the 911uk classifieds for £22k.

That's a cheap 997 with long term peace of mind.

No brainer IMO.

:agree: +1, The best advice you should NOT steer away from. I'd go for the 2year warranty. Over revving check, mechanical condition, aesthetically correct, from OPC. Steer away from the path of advice and you could be in a world of bank balance pain. It's a huge gamble with £17.5k.

It really depends on what options it has, if it has PSE, Sports Chrono, Hardback sports seats, etc etc it makes a huge difference. It isn't a bad price, but isnt a great one if it's a low spec car. What history does it have? Are there any invoices for IMS bearing replacement? What are you going to use it for? Are the tyres new? Are the discs ok? Discs are around £1000 to £1200 to do, new tyres all round is between £800 and £1000. Does it need a service? If it's due one, is it a minor or major? Not really enough info to say yes or no......
