indeed Smile

Go on op, post it on here so you get more Blimeys! Great buy if it all comes together.

I didn't ask, is the car registered as a Cat D or C write off or just a repossession? If it's clean and you can show how it goes back together it's going to be a great buy!

I'll put a total cost when its all finished. No its hpi clear and nothing outstanding. Its in good condition overall. The front bumper will need respraying as its caught a few times getting on the recovery truck. Its got a few scratches but nothing thats really deep so hopefully a machine polish will sort it out. No dents very straight. There was loads of creases and marks on the interor where all the parts were resting on the passenger seat and rear seats when i got it. Had to use a heat gun at distance and slowly stretch out the creases. Then used some leather restorer. Its come out loads better.

Great news indeed. Has to be a bargain and will make a great daily driver. Watch for the jealous types at work!

Cylinder head valves have arrived.

After work im gonna take them down to the unit so they can start working on the heads. Whilst im down that way im gonna call into some recommended welders to get them to have a look at the crankcases.

Quick update!

Mark at Ramus Porsche managed to locate me another crankcase which is better condition with no cracks or repairs at a good price. It might need lining but dropped it at a boring specialist who is going to take a look next week. Also ramus has sourced two rods and two pistons in good nick. Ordered a secondary air pump pipe which was damaged previously. Dropped the valves off at the head rebuild place and hopefully have everything back next week and all parts required to start the build. At long last im getting there. Even when its on the road i'll have more headaches trying to insure a 4s at 26 haha.

So last week i managed to collect the refurbed heads. They were done at bilston cylinder repairs and theyve done a cracking job.

Ive also got the crankcase back after being lined and got the rods and pistons.

Got a call from Mark at Ramus to say the engine is being rebuilt as we speak and to drop the car off at the garage. So yesterday i got the car recovery trucked down there. I have deceided whilst everythings off to fit a new clutch and low temp thermostat. Also realised when i was down there i'am missing a few parts. I need both bumper heat shields. One mount for the heat shield, a passenger side drivershaft and engine trays. Drop me a message if anyone has any bits.

If they are what you need your in luck.
Tried to buy from this guy before, he is fairly fixed with his prices.

Interesting project and will keep an eye on your progress, good result to find the owner and get the motor back but what a mess it was in.

You have done the right thing sourcing a replacement crankcase, the old one is just scrap!

I'm not sure of your budget for works but consider having the case fitted with a set of 6 liners to make this a rebuild and forget job.

I may have a few spares that you'll need as I seem to have a spare RMS for the 997 engine and a set of big end bearings if the journal size is the same as the 996 3.6

Best of luck with it

It would be great if you could share some pictures from the engine rebuild and installation: 997 thread of the year! Mr. Green

Great job Dan Thumb

Have you tried 9apart for any bits? Reputable Porsche breakers who I've purchased off before.

Had two exhaust brackets off them last year in good nick. Opc wanted £307 each nooo
