We were talking about the prices of these in the office today. Definite mixed views in terms of whether the 996 turbo S is worth its hefty premium over a non S or x50, and also the current pricing is well into 997T range. Any thoughts?

It is priced higher than a standard turbo due to it being rare, also being the last produced. I have never seen figures for how rare it is compared to an x50 model though.

You have reasonable production figures available for the standard 996T and the 996TS but it is impossible to say how many standard cars had the X50 option specified.

Damm it my x50 is far from standard now !!!! still got the k24 turbos in storage thou

T8 is right, the 996 Turbo S has been a topic for discussion a few times now. I think everyone is realising just how rare they are.

Adrian Streathers book numbers are:

996 Turbo Coupe
MY2000 16
MY2001 5324
MY2002 5908
MY2003 4322
MY2004 1273
MY2005 122

996 Turbo Cab
MY2003 308
MY2004 3099
MY2005 127

996 Turbo S Coupe
MY2004 2
MY2005 598

996 Turbo S Cab
MY2004 3
MY2005 960

So.... 600 Turbo S coupes world wide and 963 Turbo S cabs. This is also the figures I got when I spoke with Reading a few years back when I purchased my car.

This is an interesting article as prices much higher now!

PS. A very well know Porsche specialist has sold some excellent examples with low mileage for £80-90k, within the last 6 months.

I suppose you could think of them as 4wd comfort GT2s, without the rose-joint suspension. In that sense they are good value.

Reassuringly expensive? ;-)

Pete
(996 Turbo S, as if you hadn't guessed)

If someone offered me £80K for my Turbo S cabrio, then I'd bite their hand off!

Who? Can you PM me please :)

A friend of mine has a white cab Turbo S with special order interior. FPSH from new. unfortunately a tip but immaculate. Sport Techno wheels.

He is looking to sell.

Thanks in advance :thumb:

Also 911 Virgin; they sold an £85k Turbo S recently. It was a very low mileage manual coupe if I remember correctly.

Low mileage will likely mean under 20k miles or not more than 25k miles.
If its not in these figures, you will struggle to get those sorts of prices as it has to be for an investment collector who will put into storage.

Tip will devalue and will be less than manual box.
