My 2017 to-do list

Haven't really needed to do much with the car for over the last year. In 2016 the only jobs I did apart from having it serviced where skimming my front discs, replace a broken handbrake cable, replace a coffin arm, replace leaking reverse light switch, 2 rear tyres, new headlamp bulbs and wheel centre caps. Not bad as far as 996 ownership goes.

Anyway, recently the car has started to show a few tell tale signs of things needing attention, plus there's a couple of other things need sorting.

So, to-do list for me in 2017 and some approx. costs:

Sort out weeping joint on aircon and get regassed - £50.
Refurb Alloys - £260.
Sort out knackered DANSK back box - £0 to £600 (depending on current discussions with DANSK).
Refurbish rear window/hood area - £????
Respray passenger door (small spot of rust on bottom) - £140.
Eliminate 'rattle' from underside of car (sounds like ARBs but I've already checked them out and they seem fine) - £????

......and if I get that lot done, may even finally resolve the intermittent lumpy tick-over

Think that's about it for now.

What's on yours?

Nearly forgot:

Celebrate 3 years of ownership on Friday!!!!!!!! :yahoo:

1. Refresh suspension = booked in for the day at cog on Saturday to replace what needs doing

2. Like yourself I want a wheel refurb
3. Gt3 throttle body and competition plenum
4. Csr carbon ducktail
5. 200 cell x pipe

1) drive it more

2) there is no 2 :bandit:

My list for 2017 is....

Window tinting
black Powder coat exhaust tips
Change MFSW to a black one
Repair small kerb scratches on my recently repainted PU :frustrated:

Also very tempted to have seat backs covered in leather by Linus.

1)finish off the front rad mesh I started weeks ago
2) get steering wheel recovered, just got hold of Jack at Royal wheels
3) sort out paddles for wheel(how come hard to get Merc discount😏)
4) finally fit paddle shift👍
5) fit alum handbrake lever have had in garage since last year
6) drive it a lot more than I did last year 😀

1. Replace hood with BAS International one that has heated glass rear window
2. Re-trim roll-hoop area in cloth that matches the new hood
3. Paint seat hard-back's body colour
4. Work out if I can re-shape the seal at the base of the windscreen or if it needs to be replaced (a 3" section got folded over at some point, the point at which either end folded is now a slightly raised peak both of which admit water)

And that's me done - the car will be as close to perfect as i can get it short of a full re-spray, and it should be simple maintenance from then on.

I've had mixed feelings about my tinted rear windows fitted by a PO.

On the plus side, I think it looks good with the dark wheels as a contrast to the Arctic Silver.

However, the heated rear screen takes forever to clear the window and the tinting isn't perfect (although it's not bad)

I'll probably take it off this summer.

Nice idea for a thread.

My to do list for 2017
1) New clutch and fly wheel. Car going to my Indy within the next two weeks. Open to suggestions on which make and where to purchase. Will check the IMS as clutch work being done and remove outer seal unless this has been done by the PO.
2) Oil & filter change at the same time as clutch replace.
3) New windscreen, replacing due to a boomerang size & shaped crack.
4) Replace climate control display screen as i have a bleed both sides.
5) Two new front tyres sometime between now and Dinslaken.
6) Retrim steering wheel, the leather has worn in a small area and is only now visible since being cleaned at the weekend.

Mine is very simple

So my list is:

1. She's going in for a service in the next 2 weeks - just waiting for the Millars Nano to turn up
2. Track down and find a replacement seat control unit and get it fitted to the drivers seat
3. Get the rear PU repainted and two minor scratches refurbed off the wheels
4. I have small chip mark on the rear n/s wheel arch where some tw@t opened their door on a car park to my P&J
5. Fit new induction pipe and block off the airbox - might do that this weekend.

Other than that - drive it at every opportunity. :thumb:
