Coolant is pink, so can't be that...

I've searched the forum and I think it's aircon related :dont know:

The fluid is green, odourless, not oily

Any thoughts before I call up a specialist. Is the car safe to drive?

AC fulid leak. Has it got 'uv' look about it? OK to drive

The only thing that instantly springs to mind is that the Porsche OE antifreeze that goes in the windscreen washer bottle is green. Coolant is usually pink and everything else is oily isn't it? If it isn't that then I reckon that Zingers' suggestion of something aircon related is probably the most likely.

...as for safe to drive : it isn't oil, coolant or brake fluid, so as long as it isn't being somehow sprayed onto the brakes or tyres I would call it safe to drive.

Thanks chaps, I'll give Byfleet or someone a call later when I'm back home and book in :thumb:

Your car is clearly alien with green blood

This is a common fault, which is caused by a lack of tracking with the GT3. easy to cure :D

There is a plastic container positioned to the left side of the engine bay which is part of the cooling system, what colour is the liquid in there. Normally pink if so I'd go with AC leak

Power steering fluid is also green. I'm confused by your "not oily" comment because both AC & powers steering fluids are oily (and green, but are not the same stuff).

Potentially you got it in one :thumb:

I contacted Matt @ Porschacare, and he said hydraulic fluid is green, but would feel oily. But this bright green fluid is just watery - Matt said the dye in AC fluid is bright green so could be that - although this would more likely be at the front of the car not the rear...

Also, the AC works perfectly still, car freezes well when aircon set to LO

Yep, +1, but then wouldn't the aircon not be working properly ...?

Where's it coming from?

Rear end, but literally lots of drops (see pic) all over the ground under the entire engine area - the blobs of green fluid were not in a localised area e.g. on just the right hand side

Went for a drive this afternoon and the car seems absolutely fine. No warning lights on the dash, and coolant levels are normal (but the coolant is bright pink not green, so wasn't worried about that anyway)

The wife says it looks like a chemical reaction from copper pipes and condensation. I don't suppose there's any copper in the engine bay somewhere ... :dont know:

Probably worth mentioning too it's been very humid lately in the garage (my next project this summer is to sort garage insulation and ventilation) and the car hasn't been moved for about 2 weeks

Yes I know, regular tracking keeps GT3's fit and healthy,I've still not been able to book anything yet, but hoping to do the LOT day @ Spa (was it June?). As above post, yep coolant is fine, so reckon it's AC related too

Hmm... Steering is fine. It's definitely not oily at all... I'm wondering if the Mrs is actually right .. could it somehow just be 'green water' :?:

I'll book it in with Matt to check out asap, I'll report back afterward and update this thread

Hmm, a green spectral trail, if it asks for sugar water you'd better call MIB

Yes, how silly of me. Until today I hadn't seriously considered that my car could really be an actual alien life form. Ahh, maybe my car is an Autobot and I just never knew...

I have the same issue on my 996 C4S, after some google searches it would appear that it is a reaction from the exhaust area and water which is why on our cars it is both sides of the engine.

Finally got around to having Matt inspect the car properly this morning. No leaks or anything out of the ordinary found. All pipes / tubes etc in good condition, nothing leaking under or in the engine bay. Also car drives perfectly and no warning lights.

I drive the car all year round, so back to the theory this could be road salt reacting with the new concrete floor in the garage, or some similar chemical reaction somehow :?:
