Surely that is because the 3.4 is more desirable?

Don't shoot me down here but, bearing in mind I have one.

Is it not just us enthusiasts that think there worth more, a cabrio for me I wouldn't touch with a barge poll as they look horrndious, then not to mention every other bloody problem these things have.

We'd all love the prices to go up but 8.5 for me seems right for some thing that's liable to go boom, it's at the stage where these shouldn't be touched around 90/100k bracket without having engine attention and at that what are they really worth to a non enthusiasts, probably not even close to the rebuild price.

My personal thoughts and I've got 2 but no soft top though !!

Hi i have a 2002 3.6 carrera 4 cabriolet and its got 120,000 miles on it and i havnt had any major problems and i have just had a major service at an independant specialist who i really rate highly and on the health check they only noted that suspension could do with a refresh,
And i think that price is quite low and could possibly need some big jobs as its done over 100,000 miles...
I paid £14,000 for mine and to date i have spend around £4,000 on breaks, clutch, drop links, coffin arms, inner tie rods/track ends and services in the last 12 months...my car has full service history with all brake fluid stamps and body checks...and also the values are creeping up...
What im trying to say is not all 996 cabrios are bad...

I spotted this on eBay this morning and likewise thought 'that's a bit cheap' so I looked at the other cars that they have, a nice mix of retro classics at fairly normal specialist dealer prices, this cheap 996 doesn't appear on the website, I couldn't help but wonder why Question

Because they've only just got it in. Probably a trade in and doesn't suit their portfolio so want to move it on for what they gave for it. Dont know

Yes i agree it is a bit cheap but it could be a bargain...but i think you need to have another £6k budget in reserve as it could have some big bills loomingon the horizon...
Just remember it is a sports car and cant be run on fiesta money...
That being said they are an awesome driving experience and the smiles per mile more than make up for the running costs...i use mine as a daily driver and i cant fault it....

Seems conspicuously cheap vs their 04 4s cabby for £25k.

Might just ring and find out... if it drives as well as my 108k mile 4S that would be a good spring buy for someone.

Possibly, if it was advertised as a trade sale then the price would possibly make more sense Dont know

What a great buy, if you factor that this should be about 15k and you have those funds to spend go for it Thumb

Spoke to the seller, 100% honest on the phone. Engine is knocking on the RHS, other than that says it's a nice car. Sounds like a cylinder issue to me.

In his words - that's why it's half price. He's priced it to allow for engine work.

Refreshingly honest. He knows what they're worth - you can't buy a 3.6 without issues for £8.5k - hence the 3.6 C4S is priced at £25k etc.

That makes me feel a bit better, I will probably have to sell mine soon and to lose 3 grand on it would break my heart!

I wonder why he's not mentioned the engine knock in the ad... With that in mind it is probably grossly over priced!
