What is the sounder next to the battery 987 2

Whilst fitting the battery charger connector to the battery I noticed a shamal black sounder next to the battery. Is this the factory fitted alarm unit?
 
Thanks. Hopefully a useful point to pick up a permanent and switched live supply.
 
I'd be careful of risking a current drop into the alarm system for any reason.

There are better places to pull an ignition live feed.

What is it you are looking to do?
 
Pick up the feeds as I may have a go with fitting a self monitored tracker
 
Ok, that sounds suitable low current draw (I'm assuming a mobile phone basis)
