Been a fair amount of love in a recent thread where a member spent a few hours making his P&J sing.

Over the years, I have always detailed mine and my friends cars. Picked up more and more skills as time has gone by. Have not used a DA polisher yet, so all this was hard graft.

My current process is:

Wash (2 bucket technique) > Clay > Wash > Polish > Cleanse > Seal > Seal

Only do it every other year as it takes over 12 hours.

Here are some shots of my past glories, only the R32 was mine...

Only if he sold it years and years ago to 911v, the GT3 is still under my mate's ownership. Has had it over 5 years easily.

how long to detail the dog? mine is forever grubby

The r32 is sooooo glossy I love it!! What type of sealer is used? I've never used any before is it easy to apply?

Bad news, dogs are like the 'Forth Bridge' by the time you've finished the job, you need to start again.

She's gone now bless her, but she was a legend.

The R32 and the 997 are the latest two sessions, hence the best IMO. I used (instead of wax) Chemical Boys - Jet Seal 109, except no substitute! It goes on like a wax, then you buff off after 20-30mins. Then ideally give a second layer. Sealant is way longer lasting than wax and as you say, super glossy. After you're Jetsealed up, basic washing is quicker and easier, resulting in serious shine again with no need for reapplication. Can go 6-12 months between applications if you wash the car regularly with decent shampoo and wool mitts.

Some people like to blend in a wax layer before or after the sealant, as this has subtle changes to the finish.

Thread here with details of products, looks annoyingly like the pictures are no longer hosted though:

As I mentioned, eventually got into Sealant over wax.

Nice work

I'm part way through a multi stage winter detail myself.
Silver isn't that rewarding but hope to make some improvements on where we are currently.

Wow, as you say, Silver is the least rewarding colour I have ever done. But, that is looking immense!!!

You got a DA?!

And a road bike by the looks of it, a man of unquestionable taste! :thumb:

Thanks :)

Damn hard work Silver is proving to be but I am beginning to feel I'm making progress .

Yea using a Portacable but pictures are all work by hand as I planned to give it the full monty over the winter.

Just noticed picture 2 has reflections of the rear of the house, my Aprillia wheel and my Land Rover front wheel.

Silver just glows when it's detailed, you don't get the insane mirror finishes that black provides. Really does look well kept though! Winter project sounds like a good plan, one would need a heated garage though surely?! Ha ha

Hadn't picked up on the motorbike, but now that you mention it.

Have to concur on Silver being the least rewarding of colours, until you get that glorious sunny day and it's just been prepped. Everyone else would say it's clean, but a keen eye knows.

Ive been having a go the the door shuts and wheel arches as well lol

Holy cr4p, loving the door shuts especially! I need to have a whirl at wheel arch detailing, one area I must admit to never having dealt with.
