Epic 993 restoration thread

Awesome. Read the first 5 pages and will read the rest when I have more time.
End result looks stunning in Mexico Blue on RS Speedlines... 8)

Great thread, wonderful result. The engine failure was scary.

Really good stuff! I'm 15 pages in at the moment and enjoying it immensely.

It's a shame Ferry Man doesn't post on here. He writes very well, not to mention the quality of his garage. :worship:

Just finished the whole thread. Awesome.
Love to put a cost to what he had done. Great result (with a few freebies from Tom (TP81) to go on there).

That's 2 people (other being HPNer) going against the grain and doing something they really want to. Love it.

Just read the whole story - top job, amazing journey getting it all together :thumb:

I love the detail of having the new springs painted in Mexico Blue!

Great work. Will need to keep a look out, as it is quite close to home. Tony did you clock the location?

I certainly did - I'm surprised I haven't seen that one driving around, it is pretty distinctive!

Just read it from start to finish....excellent! Seems to have found every potential problem and sorted it. Like the way he writes - poor Zingari, think of the competition - all those DDK boys will now be on the hunt for any 993 basket cases down at 25 bags!

The engine going bang like that gave a sickly feeling, but think we can all take heart on the generally low level of rust for 20 odd year old cars. This comment made me smile 'This is very interesting from a tech view point, and affirms what I have recently found, not all independent Porsche specialists are 'special', just quite crap' ....been getting that feeling myself as time passes!

Thanks for pointing to this thread, I haven't seen this. I am impressed of the level of thoroughness in his work.
There's even a note of my work on his tachometer. That was a real challenge, it was the first time I saw traces of a lightning bolt inside this kind of instrument.
Cheers,
Tore

I managed to finish reading the thread last night. Awesome work and attention to detail and the finished car looks superb. Ride height, wheels, colour and detail work very well together. 8)

I'll give it a year or maybe two before I head down the same route, though I'm now unsure as to whether I leave the car GP White or look for something a little brighter...?

Before even opening the thread, I know I'm just going to love this!

Mine is currently with colt and when you see "what did you buy for your 993 today" in a few days time, you will see that in sum I have a new brush and new handle for my broom!

Off to church with Mrs HPNer in around twenty minutes then out to lunch, will then sit down with a large glass of Rioja (Crianza, of course) and devour what looks like being a fascinating read . . .

Can't wait!

You definitely will love it Phil

Really good read and car is fantastic, not his first rodeo though he built a fantastic st tribute with early 911 which was also stunning however as the early cars are now bonkers money even for a rustbucket picking up a 993 for 25 bags might be the way forward although Paul has thrown a fairly large budget at that one as well.
