Selling my 996 GT3 Comfort, after nearly seven years of ownership. Originally delivered to Singapore, but declared new at first registration in the UK, 14.12.1999. Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche Cars GB.

Colour: Arctic Silver

Mileage: 88,500

Optional Equipment:

More powerful battery

CD storage

Top-tinted windscreen

Front centre console

On-board computer

Porsche CDR 220 CD radio

Full history, with OPC stamps from new, followed by specialists, with plenty of receipts.

Tracker fitted.

The car has been featured extensively in 911 & Porsche World Magazine, and has been the subject of a number of sensible improvements:

Cargraphic stainless exhaust, plus DMS Automotive map. These two together raise power from just under 360hp to 403hp, with very significant gains in the mid-range, where it is arguably most useful. (See the rolling road trace.) And all without opening the engine.

Lightweight single-mass flywheel from TTV Racing. At less than half the weight of the standard dual-mass item, this reduces the inertia of the engine considerably, for an even more eager throttle response. And of course the clutch was replaced at the same time, with a sprung-hub Sachs unit. It's very usable – not race-sharp, or excessively heavy.

Suspension has virtually all been replaced. New factory coffin arms, with monoball control arms, front camber plates and rear top mounts from Rennline in the U.S. All adjustable and very high quality. Bilstein B16 adjustable dampers control Eibach springs. Fitting and set-up by RPM Technik, in Herts – acknowledged handling experts for water-cooled Porsches. GT3s are notoriously sensitive to set-up, and a great deal of care and effort has been taken to achieve a car with nice neutral handling and positive turn-in, without the tramlining that afflicts some examples. A Cargraphic Airlift Kit lifts the nose by 70mm when required. It's slow, but invaluable. (An upgraded pump is commercially available, but robs some boot space.) Yokohama Neova AD08R tyres are fitted, with plenty of meat left on them. To me, they represent an ideal compromise between exceptional grip, even in the wet, and ride comfort/noise.

Condition isn't concours, but is nonetheless very good for a car of this age and mileage. Front bumper and mirror shells are freshly painted, and the wheels have been professionally refinished. There are one or two minor marks, but nothing unexpected. Interior shows some signs of wear in places, but is scrupulously clean with freshly refinished seat-back shells. The underside has recently been dry ice blasted, any rust treated, and sprayed with primer. (GT3s of this era had no underseal, just a primed finish.) The picture shows the car minus its protective plastic shields, for illustration purposes.

In summary, this is an eminently usable GT3, looking completely stock, with all mods invisible, and a marked performance advantage over the standard car. It has been signed by Andreas Preuninger (Head of the GT Program at Porsche) and Walter Rà¶hrl. (A GT3 was the first production car to beat eight minutes at the Nürburgring, with Walter at the wheel.) It has been posed on by Lord March (who used to own one), and driven by Touring Car legend Jan Lammers.

Am definitely interested, states he will post.... wonder how much that costs?!

I spoke to Antony last year before I bought my car.

This is a seriously nice car, it just wasn't what I was looking for.

With 5 days still to go, who knows where the final bid will end up? Certainly over £50k in my book.

Cheers, Keith.

I believe Andreas Preuninger signed the Tip box on that 996.7 GT3 RS Auto :?:

I'm just amazed the factory museum would have let one of the early 991 GT3 PDK proof of concept cars out if the family collection :dont know:

I thought all UK MK1s had buckets as standard?

I've got the original brochure for mine and there's no mention of a sport seat option.

I wonder about that one and the PCCB whether there is an expensive bill round the corner.

Chap uses my Indy and his 997TT is over the 100k on ceramics. Reckon there's still two-thirds left on the pads :what:

As I recall, buckets were not standard. Clubsport yes, otherwise no.

This car (along with many other GT3 cars) have been sitting with dealers for over 10 months by my records. This doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with them, just that the market is adjusting supply with demand.

I can vouch for Antony's car, well worth over £50k if you want the excellent changes to specification he has made. These are well documented in the motoring press and Antony is a very honest seller, prepared to divulge all of the detail of his car's strengths. It was just a tad too track focussed for me but it would be a great buy for someone who wants to enjoy a GT3 on the road and do some track driving.

Four ebay bidders so far with just under 5 days to go. A snip at anything around £50k. That would be great value for money with the amazing performance Antony has properly engineered into the car.

Cheers, Keith.

Currently sat at £39,100 with 10 bids so far. Auction ends tomorrow. Watching with interest....

That's already 4K more than a Lotus dealer offered me for mine this week with 18K less miles on it. :D

On the 996, the buckets were standard and the normal sports seats a no cost option. Clubsport no cost as long as you opted for buckets.
On the 997.1, buckets were a ~£4k option. Clubsport was no cost, but could only be selected if you had paid up for the seats.
On the 997.2, folding buckets or sports seats was a no cost decision and the fixed carbon buckets from the gen 1 were extra cost. Again - Clubsport was no cost but required buckets.
On the 991, buckets were again chargeable like the 997.1, and you had to pay for the seats to get a no cost option on Clubsport.
The Cayman GT4 you had to pay extra for either of the types of buckets available and even more on top to buy the Clubsport option.

That really is taking the piss !

Wow!

Somebody got a real bargain. That's £14k less that Antony was advertising the car for sale last year.

Quality car with some expensive modifications.

Hope we get to find out who the new owner is.

Cheers, Keith.
