Hi,
I have a 1999 Porsche GT3 MK1 with the MK2 front brake upgrade with 350mm discs and the bigger calipers. I have had the car nearly 6 years now and the brakes have always been totally underwhelming / currently positively dangerous. It just simply doesn't stop and all that happens is that the ABS kicks in before any stopping happens!
I have had the discs skimmed, brake calipers overhauled, new braided steel hoses, new master cylinder, brake fluid changed. Tried some Pagid Pads, standard factory Pads and currently have fitted PFC 01 Pads. Tyres: Toyo Proxes R888 SG's Front / GG's Rear.
The car is used purely for the odd drive out to a 911uk meet or the occasional Sprint, so I'm not sure if I even need the bigger front brakes anyway which were on the car?
I recently took it to the Porsche Dealership in Tonbridge to have it checked out. They said that no ABS faults came up on the diagnostics, but that they could do no more as the car had been modified. All they suggested was that I try an Independent who would be willing to work on it.
The car is currently away in storage for the winter, so no immediate rush to get it sorted. If however someone can point me in the direction of a reputable/capable Independent Porsche/Brake Specialist who would be able to fix my problem once and for all I would be forever grateful.
I live in KENT but am quite willing to travel distances as required.
Thanks in advance......
N:B. I would also be interested too in having fitted a proportional brake bias valve into the brake system, to make balance adjustments as required.
