A friend of mine has just bought a 997 2S (2 days ago) and the shifter cable has snapped (he thinks). Can anybody advise on a decent Indy near London NW10?

Not exactly on the doorstep of NW10, but there's Porsche Torque in Uxbridge and Portiacraft in Edgware.

Not that near, but good, and actually not to far away straight up the M1/A1 is Matt at Porschacare.
 
More importantly, who did he buy it from, and how did he pay? If its private, he might struggle, but the consumer protection laws changed a lot not long ago so he might have a right to send it back. If it's a dealer, he certainly will!
