Looking for inexpensive garage near Manchester

Hi all,

So I'm selling my 997 this month if I can, but at a recent service I got a quote for all the brake discs/pads being replaced. This was at Revolution Porsche in Brighouse.

The quote was £700ish so I'm wondering if I can get the work done cheaper elsewhere, and perhaps somewhere more local to me. Based just outside Manchester city centre.

Ideally not looking for a super duper Porsche specialist like Sports&Classic where I've been before, but just somewhere I can get the work done quite cheaply but well.

Cheers,
Fionn

The only way you can get the work done cheaper than Revolution quoted price is:

1. Cheaper labour rate - but there isn't too much labour in this job from what I understand. Most Porsche specialists around here labour rate will be £85 - £90 per hr inc VAT. Revolution might be £80/hr (around £65/hr + VAT).
If its straight-forward job, you might get away with a back-street garage to do it for £50/hr + VAT = £60 inc VAT. If its 3 hrs, you will save £90 on labour out of that £700 (assuming its inc VAT)

2. Cheaper parts. I think at £700 Revolution will already have quoted using the cheapest parts (Pagid). But there may be some cheap place that has another make that are cheaper than whatever parts Revolution have based their price on..

3. Combination of 1 and 2

You can buy pagid discs all round, pagid front pads and brembo rear pads for £350 from carparts4less using their discount codes.

If you use somewhere that's £80/hr including VAT and say 3 hours, that's £350+£240=£590.

My local wizard would probably do the lot in about 2-3 hours @ £36/hr inclusive of VAT. That'd cost me £458 for the lot if he was 3 hours.

Give Unit11 Warrington a call for a quote

Unit 11 and 9M labour rate likely same as Mike @ Sports & Classic. Revolution will have prices based in cheapest discs (Pagid).

Go for £36/hr labour rate for a significant saving.
