964 trip to Barcelona

Picking up on an incidental remark that I made in a thread in the Members Lounge, and Zingari's response to it.

I will be making a round trip to Barcelona in my 964 in September. As Z observed, this should be an epic trip and I am really looking forward to it. It's built round a couple of days of business meetings, and the fact that I expect to retire at the end of the year - so my travel costs will be largely covered, up to a maximum of equivalent air/rail/taxi fares. It'll cost me a little bit extra for a couple of overnight stops en route but it seems too good an opportunity to miss for an expenses-paid long-distance jaunt that the 911 was designed for.

The old girl didn't miss a beat on an 800 mile round trip to Scotland last summer. Having recently had a full overhaul of brakes and suspension (the latter was still the original 26 year old kit  ) I'm hoping that she will take the 2000 miles to Barcelona and back in her stride. I've done the trip before in the daily driver on the same basis - solo out, return with daughter sharing the driving.

Wish me luck! :flag: :driving:

We are heading to Barcelona early September, are you thinking of doing any driving whilst out there, there's plenty to go at?

After the solo 1000 mile drive and two days of business meetings my relaxation will be cultural and gastronomic (daughter used to live in Barcelona so I have insider access to some hidden gems) - no more driving until the trip home.

Good luck chum :thumb: Love to join you but I'm on Jury service in September :pc:

Gastro trips are my fav too. A few guys on another forum took a ferry to Santander and drove back through Pyrenees & Alps which could be another option.
