Well after 25 years of hard work I finally got a Porsche, it's a Boxster 981 with loads of factory extras , pasm, ptv, sports chrono etc.

I have added a GTS bumper and rear lights, diffuser to follow with a load more Mods as time goes on.
I got the exact car I wanted and it is everything and more than what I was expecting bar 4 things.
It is under powered
The brake discs are rusted to ***** and cracked , Porsche dealer says they are fine and will not replace.(I just got the car)
Could do with a sports exhaust
I find the car very unstable on fast sweeping bends. The car sways and feels like the chassis and wheels are not connected, Porsche says its the pasm and I need to get used to it however to me, it just feels unsafe, on the other hand on tight sharp bends, it's the best handling car I've ever driven.
Can any one please advise, is this the pasm and what can I do to address,

Cheers and Hi

981 perfect platform I found. Try it with PASM off and see how it drives. On bumpy/uneven roads I found PASM unsettling.

Did you buy from OPC? If so I'd suggest the brake discs are nothing to worry about

That silver and red combo does look stunning, welcome to the forum.

Did you test drive it before you bought it :dont know:

Congrats and welcome.

Discs will be rusty if the car has stood for a while. I'm surprised they didn't run it to remove any surface rust. Put a photo up of the discs so we can see them.

I bought if from Porsche Cardiff and they ensure me nothing is wrong with the discs,
I will give it a go with the pasm off, didn't realise I could turn it off,

Cheers

1 of the discs with a few visible cracks.

I did however the floating feeling only happens over 70, more so around 100 on a sweeping bend. This was not evident from the test drive.

Cheers

They need replacing IMO. Those cracks will worsen and the disc could fail at some point. They are stress fractures. This is common with some drilled discs.

As Zingari says try it PASM off. I think PASM was designed for people like the Americans who want their cars to feel and handle like a boat, which is fine on long straight smooth highways , none of which exist in the UK which is why so many people over here drive with Pasm off on our short bendy badly maintained roads. :thumb:

You hit the nail on the head with boat handling and road condition comment lol, cheers

Will defo turn it off and take for a spin.

+1 :agree:

PASM is far too harsh for our Great British bumpy, uneven, badly surfaced, pothole riddled excuse for a road system.............I never turn it on in my Boxster :nooo:

I`m concinced that Porsche actually make their brake disks out of compressed rust flakes, so they pretty much always look like yours do, have a peek and feel of the inboard surfaces, they will be 200% worse then the outer surfaces :thumb:

Surely if Porsche Cardiff sold the car to you then they would have done the multi point check and given a 2 year warranty. Or could the previous owner have bought an extended warranty this meaning Porsche have sold to you as they have taken it and not done the check?

Assuming the check was carried out, they would have picked up any suspension issues or brake disc problems?

Car looks nice btw, nothing that can't be sorted.

Maybe it's the larger wheels that are making it seem jumpy, mines on same wheels as yours and I came from a 987, which was on 19s did int notice a lot of difference but on cornering it felt "different" before then I had 18s on a 987 this time no pasm tbh it felt a bit harsh and I didn't like it so much.

What sort of mileage has it covered?

Oh and like the red, fortune favours the brave and coloured interiors are the way to go imho. (Mind you I've got beige  )

Cheers, I am going to take the car to a Porsche specialist and get the brakes checked. I don't trust dealers, Its all about the money first.
