Anyone know of a good low cost alternative that takes decent 4k footage?

recommendations and experience welcomed

Intended use: in car footage

Thanks in advance

Got mself one of these. Used it on a shallow dive on holiday, plus lots of playing around. £60.

I think its great value. No issues apart from Windows phone compatability with remote software/app.

For in car footage, make sure it can cope with a wide angle

And has a spot meter.

How are you guys finding these 'budget' cameras?

Spot metering, would be a better term. If the camera is inside a car it needs to use the outside light to meter its exposure else you will get a beautifully lit driver but wont be able to see the view through the screen as is will be massively over exposed. On a gopro turning the spot meter on does this and the camera uses the light from the spot directly in front of the lens to set its exposure rather than a more general ambient light source. I'm sure some experts could give a better answer but thats the gist of it.

OK. got it (spot meter) thanks Senoj :thumb:
Is go-pro 'the one'?
or are there cheaper alternatives?
I would imagine for in car, anti-vibration is also important as well as the spot meter thing?

Ive just ordered the SJ5000 (double the price of the 4000) but has a car function and gyro stabilisation (will be great for skiing).
