Gear stick cap - update: help with paint please

Does anyone know if the gear stick cap pops out? Mine has a wear mark on it from the previous owner and I want to recondition it. Thanks.
 
OK, did some Googling and found info on another site showing that the cap does indeed just pop out. I have carefully removed mine ready for repainting. I have another question: what is the silver colour used on the interior such as on the door handles? I would like to match it up if I can. Thanks, Mark.
