I have just got a bottle of Gtechniq C4 trim restorer and would be keen to here how others have got on with this product and are there any do's and dont's before I ***** it up

This video explains the process reasonably well :-

Am a massive fan of Gtechniq products, but didn't get on so well with the C4.

Did everything exactly as the video suggests. However, found the final finish was uneven and it only really lasted one month in winter. Probably will not try again and instead will stick with the T1.

Hope it all goes well for you.

As above. I like their products too but when in the USA last year I found what i think is the exact same stuff but in a different bottle 'WipeNew'. Its a fraction the price, smells exactly the same and lasts forever. They now sell it on eBay and I've just bought another couple of bottles.

Bottom line is you must make sure your trim is completely clean before applying it otherwise it will be patchy

I used Gtechniq W2 (as advised by Gtechniq) diluted 1:10 to prepare the surfaces. I cleaned the surfaces twice with the diluted W2 and allowed them to dry thoroughly before going anywhere near them with the C4. As previously said, the result was not what I had hope for. :what:

My conclusion was that C4 worked best on reasonably flat bits of trim. Anything with lots of angles and undercuts did not show the C4 in the best light.

Fairy liquid (diluted as if you were doing the pots) and a brush! This takes every last remnant of any product off and leaves it looking horribly grey.

Then apply the C4 and it turns black again! Just make sure you've rinsed it well and its dried before applying.

Personally the only time I've had problems with it on any trim bits has been when the surface wasn't properly prepped. :dont know:

I bought a bottle to tart up my Cayman for the new owner, the stuff is incredible! Was going to do a thread dedicated to it!

You think your blacks are black... they're not.

Look at that last shot for god's Sake, I'm a fan. Clean surfaces thoroughly, dry, apply with cotton pad or microfibre towel then buff of with another towel. Apply two or three layers on tougher areas that take a beating.

Best not to do it in direct sunlight too.
