Servicing a Cayenne - OPC or Independent specialist

The wife has a 2011 Cayenne. It currently has 64k on the clock. All of the servicing has been done by Porsche.

I normally like to flip cars every two-three years. We have had this car for just over a year now. The wife still really likes the car and doesn't want to change it for the next 3-4 years.

Would you carry on with the OPC servicing or start going to an Independent specialist?

Once we come to sell the car when it is 8-9 years old will having an OPC vs Specialist command that much more or make it that much easier to sell?

I hate using OPC not only from an economical point of view but my experience on other cars is that independent specialists seem to be so much more knowledgeable and actually care for the car more.

What are your views?

I personally don't think it will make a jot of difference on a 9 year old Cayenne.

:agree:

I don't think so either. OPC or a Porsche specialist would be fine either way, but definitely not A. N. Other no-name garage. I'd steer clear of one serviced with the latter, I'd be looking for Porsche related servicing only.

In the grand scheme of things I'd be more bothered about losing over £25k in depreciation than maintaining a few hundred quid on resale value by who serviced it. :dont know:

I agree with the comments above and I am presuming it is now outside of Porsche Warranty :dont know:

Whilst I will agree OPC will do everything in the service schedule @£120ph labour rates so can a well respected Indy AND provide you with a more interactive experience of what they've done etc.

How you finding it? Given the time you now intend to keep it I presume you are pleased?

Thank you for your replies gents. Confirms what I was thinking. I'll got to a decent Independent next.

It's a good car. I quite like it. Much more easier to use around town ( we live in London) than a large 4 by 4. It's got poke when needed and eats up miles on the motorway. Road noise is loud but that's probably due to the 21" Turbo alloys more than anything. Very comfortable and I still think it looks brilliant- the looks are hit and miss.

I was hell bent on options and wanted to arches trim etc to be colour coded , memory seats , Bose, 21" alloys, plus I wanted black with Luxor Beige. So when it came up I probably paid a little too much for it.

I don't have a warranty on it but as it shares a lot of parts with Audi , VW etc I'm not worried about big bills.

MPG is brilliant 46mpg on the motorway all the time.

Have to say Alex is right - the depreciation is horrid. I think I have lost over £7-10k in the year I have owned it.

God knows what I'll get back for it in 4 years , but I can't imagine it being much.

No regrets on the car at all - probably more regrettable spending so much on what is really something to trolly the sprog around in and going for a spec that I would want rather than what the wife would have been pleased with - which would have cost me a lot less!

Black with luxor beige :worship: the dog's gonads IMHO :thumb:
