I happen to be visiting Naples , Florida (it's a dirty job but somebody has to do it  ) and I called by the local Porsche dealer to have a look around. They have a least 20 new 911's of various models on the forecourt ready for sale, but a local resident happened to drive in with his 918 for a service. Well if you can afford a 918 then why not have it in "plum" colour.
I got chatting to another guy there who had a 40th Anniversary car with this registration plate, Ian (Moorhouse) is this your pal from the internet ?

Enjoy.....

Hi John,

Great pics, so is this what you do when you get on the road? Are we to expect a rust free import from the States in the near future? Was Mrs Porschekit at the mall?

Merry xmas, from a cold wet and windy blighty!

Cheers, Keith.

Hello Keith,

Yes the mall was an unavoidable part of the trip!....Not sure if I can afford an import however I do have an invite to the motor museum in Naples, which has a some nice air-conditioned Porsche's being cosseted, so I'll get a few more pics going.

Greetings, gents:

Ian - I checked the Registry records and I do not show a 40th in Florida with that plate. Note also the aftermarket exhaust tips. That may help identify it.

Porschekit - I am Ian's internet pal but that isn't my car. I live in the State of Missouri in the USA, although I have been to Naples, Florida many times as my wife has family who live in that area. My plate is very similar to that one - see the pic I posted. Did you get any more details about that car or its owner when you were chatting with him, or maybe some more pics? I would like to be able to make contact with him about the 911 40th Registry. You can message me here or you can reach me at [email protected].

Cheers, gents.

I didn't get the gentleman's name since we only chatted for a few minutes, but he did tell me that it was a factory fitted special stainless steel exhaust, with twin pipes although not a sports exhaust, and that the wheels were satin brushed steel, also factory fitted. See picture. He had a grandson that worked at the Collier REV's museum in Naples by the name of Andrew Long. Maybe you can get a steer from there.

cheers.
John H.

Thank you, John!

Ted,

The other way is call the Porsche dealership at tel:+12392805100, it's on Route 41 the Tamiami trail. In my picture you can see the gentleman walking from the showroom to his car while I was taking the pic. They are bound to know him and / or the plate. He lives down there for a few months of the year but is from up north. He has an Aston Martin and several other cars but he says he is a Mercedes fan. Happy hunting.

John.

John - I spoke with the owner's grandson yesterday by phone and have emailed him the information about the 40th Registry. Thank you so much for your help!

Ted

Great! ...let me know how you get on and if he joins up....I might get a ride in his Aston the next time I'm over :D

John.
