I didn't think Porsche could surprise me anymore when it came to parts and pricing. I was wrong. Replacing an outer track rod end I need a new M14 lock nut. That will be £14.00 including the VAT to you Sir
I've ordered 5 in SS for £1.99

I had to order an 8" exhaust pipe today to connect my silencer to the tip. long story in another thread (currently filling in court paperwork to sue the dealer) anyway. Nothing fancy about the part but it was £400.92!!!!!!!!

I mean FFS!!!! its a bit of tubular steel for gods sake. Unfortunately my car is off the road until tomorrow when it arrives so had to pay it. Back to top of post though ill be passing on the bill along with a few others later this week to sit an watch :judge:

Wait until you need a brake light bulb!

I sense someone in Stuttgart HQ must have said something like "zees classic aircooled cars, zey are fetching zee YOOGE money zese days - vee should eencrease zee prices of zee OPC parts for zee reetch Englanders".

It's Porsche tax, folks.

I have no problem with Porsche making a profit but I have a big problem with Porsche taking the pi@@. They really do need to rethink their current pricing.

Just buy one of their Porsche Design office chairs, sit back and cry into your beer, a bargain at £4000

Porsche tax is hard to avoid guys, but help yourselves where you can. Price match with OPC, Design 911 and eBay etc. Look for second hand parts or fabricate your own.

Dont forget that OPC can still be cheaper then other places and should offer you about 10-15% discount.

It isn't just Porsche though, I had a leaking valve on the A/C on my Honda, Honda don't sell just the valve and wanted over £300 for the pipe, which would need many hours of labour to fit. At the same time I had the receiver/drier changed, Honda wanted over £300 for that too. I found an automotive A/C specialist near Birmingham, sent them the valve insert and receiver/drier and they sold me a close enough to identical replacement one and three valve inserts for a total of about £60. Saving somewhere around £1k on Honda prices.

Porsche fuel caps for the 996 are surprisingly sensibly priced, as are their fixed price servicing on the older cars.

I no longer moan about OPC's being a rip off-
I accept them for what they are-
when I enter an OPC I simply get down on all fours in the reception area and pull my trousers and pants down- I like to get it over with quickly......

:nooo:

I've just been quoted £180 from Porsche for the 21mm C2 rear sway bar. Actually don't think this price is too bad but should still be a bit cheaper.

Want to swap it for my 18mm C4 one.

Agreed with above. All manufacturers are expensive. To replace my Mini floor mats is £72. (£75 for my old Boxster)

I was charged £16 for a bulb once in Ford from their parts desk.

When you consider the cost of our cars compared to those cars...

Having said all that, I was charged £45 each for the little plastic centrelock caps!

When you buy a Porsche you are buying into a premium brand with unparalleled support for older models.I don't think it's any surprise that these part's cost a lot but in some cases they are very reasonable.

Just look at Ferrari part's in comparison. They will fook you over for every last nut, bolt and washer.

Or look at BMW prices for any M3 CSL parts, door cards are something like £2k each.

Its not just Porsche.

Try Nissan parts prices ...........

+1

How about £247.70 for one ABS wheel sensor for a 1999 Primera.

It wouldn't have been so bad but the whole car's still only worth £500.
