Posted: Mon Aug 31, 2015 9:58 am Post subject: The UK average mileage per year for a 997 Coupe
|
 |
|
As it's a cool, wet Bank Holiday Monday and I'm not being pestered to do anything else I decided to review a project that I first undertook a couple of years ago - namely to get a good idea of what the average mileage for a 997 Coupe might be in the UK.
I used AutoTrader as my data source and limited my search to 997 Carrera Coupes up to an asking price of £35k.
This gave me a sample of 229 cars.
The results for each half year prefix varied from 5.02k for early cars to 6.92k for the later ones with an overall average of 6.1k.
Obviously this isn't a scientific survey but for anyone either curious (like me) or looking to buy a sub-£35k 997 Coupe I thought it might be interesting.
Applying the 6.1k per year average to all cars would mean an 'average mileage car' as at 31st August 2015 would be:
54 plate = 67k
05 plate = 64k
55 plate = 61k
06 plate = 58k
56 plate = 55k
07 plate = 52k
57 plate = 49k
08 plate = 46k _________________ 2007 Guards Red 997 Turbo Tiptronic

Interesting little study there mate,
I have an 07 997TT coupe used as a daily driver/business travel and Im 200miles off 50k on the clock, so a little under the average based on these stats. _________________ _________________

My 997T is an 07 with 52k miles up but please note the stats in this thread are for Carreras not Turbos. _________________ 2007 Guards Red 997 Turbo Tiptronic

I work from home so it gets used for trips to the shops and just pleasure, and has become our car of choice when going out at weekends. It had 43,000 on it when I got it in April.

70,000 miles for my 04 - oops - your analysis doesn't start that early.
I suspect there can't be too many 04 plate 997 cars out there. _________________ 997.1 C2 (full Hartech rebuild, Ohlins coilovers, ducktail, plus some other bits)

Interesting, mine's clearly had a lot of use with 77K on an 07! Still, I'm not looking to sell so it doesn't really matter whether I'm in the higher than average mileage bracket or not.
Two things though:
1. It still looks like it came out of the showroom and has a full service history so it's clearly been well looked after by the one previous owner.
2. It's going to continue having above average miles over the years as I intend enjoying it rather than looking at it. _________________ 997.1 C4S Meteor Grey Manual

Mine is a December 2004 on a 54 plate. 98k miles and counting! These cars get better the more you use them. _________________ 997.1 C2S
