Howdy folks. Last year I organised a little tour of some distilleries, lovely Scottish driving roads, and......managed to miss it to attend my niece's wedding.

But Mr Pub, Pickse and JAD went and had a great time.

All details here:

This time I'm planning a little further ahead and taking on board the feedback making some improvements. I want to still keep the distillery theme as I'm an Iain Banks fan and loved his book on visiting distilleries. And since he was such a petrol head and Porsche nut, it seems appropriate. But will change the locale, route and date.

I've also been inspired by finding this:

So the plan at the moment will be:

- See who's up for it?
- Get input from all going to finalise the distilleries, drive timing and accommodation.
- Book it!

The only thing I've got so far is the date. I'm planning on attending the Mull of Kintyre Music Festival at the end of the tour:

So that means being in Applecross by the evening of Thursday 18th August.

So who's in? :?:

The dates work for me, so it's a possibility..

:thumb: attending the Mull of Kintyre Music Festival is not obligatory FYI

I might end up getting my arm twisted by more than one Campbeltonian!!

I very much enjoyed last years West Coast trip.

I would be in - but am going to France late July/Early August with a family and others for a few weeks.

France dates won't be finalised for a while and take precedence.

Put me down as a possible.

I would give the music festival a body swerve though!

I'scheduled to be away with work on the date but many factors can change that. I will watch this with interest and see what I can do. :thumb:

Right chaps!

1) Simple plan is who's up for it?
2) Pick distilleries? (My only request is Tain - was there in '88 and want to revisit the place where the '16 men' are from)
3) Quick search for hotels (the Scottish Picture thread is a great help in the western parts but the '500' covers John O Groats etc so we'll need some options that way).
4) Check tyres, geo, oil, fill with petrol and drive.

Once we have a better idea on '1' I'll ask for those going to help with some of the above. Some can book the hotels while others can book the distilleries etc.

I suggest we see who signs up over the next couple of months then take it from there?

(PS Kintyre Music Festival is definitely on the 'optional' side! )

I've just been informed that I'll be back in the UK from France by Friday 12th August at the latest - and it may be possible to shave a day or so off that.

So I could be Scotty bound from around the 13th.

No

But its a great drive there and back 8)
