Defending champion Webster grabs double pole during Porsche Carrera Cup GB qualifying at Spa-Francorchamps

- Josh Webster starts at the front for Race 1 today and Race 2 on Saturday
- Current points leader Dan Cammish and double Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Michael Meadows make up the top three for both races
- Karl Leonard and Graeme Mundy set the pace in Pro-Am1 and Pro-Am2 respectively

Qualifying

Defending champion and Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar Josh Webster (Team Parker Racing) displayed stunning pace to take pole position for both races in a gripping qualifying session at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit and in doing so banish any lingering frustration from a topsy-turvy opening Championship round at Brands Hatch.

The 21-year-old exited the pits late in the session for his final flying laps and strung together some hugely impressive sector times to post a fastest time over two tenths quicker than current Championship leader Dan Cammish (Redline Racing). 'I'm really happy that I managed to deliver under pressure and it means a lot to do it for the team as well," said Webster. 'The car felt fantastic and it's nice to get a couple of points in the Championship too."

Fellow title contenders and early season pacesetters Dan Cammish and Michael Meadows (Samsung SUHD TV Racing) make up the top three for both races and will be sure to push Webster all the way. Elsewhere in the Pro category, Dino Zamparelli (Parr Motorsport), Victor Jimenez (IN2 Racing) and Ryan Cullen (G-Cat Racing) also enjoyed a positive qualifying session to put themselves in a great position to capitalise on any mistake.

In the Pro-Am1 category, Karl Leonard (Team Parker Racing) went fastest late on in the session to start on class pole for both races. 'I'm happy enough with how it went out there but in all honesty I wanted to be a bit closer to the Pros like I was at Brands," commented the experienced Porsche Carrera Cup GB driver. 'So, it's a good result tinged with a little disappointment. I think the optimum position would have been P7 or P8 overall."

Juta Racing's Ignas Gelzinis and Redline Racing's Jordan Witt will loom large in Leonard's wing mirrors throughout the weekend after the trio all qualified within half a second of each other. Further down the field, usual frontrunner Mark Cole will be one to watch as he fights his way from the back of the grid after a mechanical issue forced him to park up at Turn 4 a minute into the session.

Graeme Mundy (IN2 Racing) in his first round of the season was just under five seconds off overall pole to qualify highest for both races in the Pro-Am2 category. Peter Kyle-Henney (Parr Motorsport) also bounced back from an incident in Thursday's practice to start second in the first race of the weekend.

Defending champion completes perfect day after dominant Race 1 victory

Josh Webster produces commanding drive to win the first Porsche Carrera Cup GB round at Spa-Francorchamps

- Josh Webster leads from start to finish despite pressure from Championship rival Dan Cammish
- Stephen Jelley completes the podium after an intense battle with Victor Jimenez and Dino Zamparelli
- Karl Leonard and Nerijus Dagilis take the spoils in Pro-Am1 and Pro-Am2 respectively
- Charismatic sound of 30 flat-six rear-engined 911 GT3 Cup cars echoes round historic Ardennes circuit

Race 1

Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar Josh Webster (Team Parker Racing) produced a faultless drive to convert pole position into a superb win in the opening Championship round at Spa-Francorchamps. The 21-year-old resisted intense pressure from Championship points leader Dan Cammish (Redline Racing) to take the sixth Porsche Carrera Cup GB win of his career.

After dominating qualifying earlier in the day, Webster made a great start and maintained his lead into La Source. From then on, he successfully maintained the gap to Cammish who was eager to add to his two wins already this season. 'Days like today are incredible but it's even more special when the entire World Endurance Championship community is watching," said the defending champion. 'I knew it was going to be hard and it proved that way but the team did an incredible job."

Meadows and Cammish were joined on the podium by former GP2 driver Stephen Jelley (Team Parker Racing) who built on his impressive display at Brands Hatch with another strong haul of points. 'To come away with third after a less than ideal qualifying is a great result," commented the 32-year-old. 'Racing is Spa is bit of an unknown for this Championship so I take a very positive feeling away from today and hope for more of the same for tomorrow's race."

For long periods Jelley was fighting with Victor Jimenez (IN2 Racing) and Dino Zamparelli (Parr Motorsport) who both finished just three seconds behind after some great racing. Mention must also go to Championship rookie Tom Sharp (IDL Racing) who was always on the tail of the chasing pack.

In a continuation from qualifying, Karl Leonard (Team Parker Racing) proved the man to beat in the Pro-Am1 category after managing to pick off several of the Pro drivers. Jordan Witt (Redline Racing) and Ignas Gelzinis (Juta Racing) also continued their strong run of results finishing in tenth and twelth position respectively.

In his first Porsche Carrera Cup GB race Nerijus Dagilis (Juta Racing) took the honours in the Pro-Am2 class finishing just three seconds ahead of rival Paul McKay (IN2 Racing).

'I didn't know my position until after the race had finished," stated the delighted Lithuanian, who missed Brands Hatch through illness. 'I made a really good start that let me make up a few positions immediately and towards the end it was all about making the tyres last."

The second Porsche Carrera Cup GB race of the weekend takes place at 12.15 tomorrow (local time) and will last 45 minutes, allowing the capacity grid of 30 Type 991 911 GT3 Cup cars more time on the world-renowned circuit. Highlights of both today's race and Race 2 will be shown in a 90-minute special on MotorsTV on Saturday evening at 8pm (UK time) with repeats throughout the following week.

2015 Championship points leader wins 45-minute race in the Belgian Ardennes

Dan Cammish pounces to take special victory in dramatic second round at Spa-Francorchamps

- Redline Racing's Cammish takes third win of the season after an important overtake on Championship rival and pole-sitter Josh Webster
- Race interrupted by long safety car period after incident at Raidillon on the opening lap
- Ignas Gelzinis (Juta Racing) and Graeme Mundy (IN2 Racing) reign supreme in Pro-Am1 and Pro-Am2

Race 2

2015 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship frontrunner Dan Cammish pulled an important overtake on fellow title contender Josh Webster to seal a momentous win in the second race of the weekend on the hallowed asphalt of Spa-Francorchamps. The 26-year-old was forced to bide his time as the race was interrupted by a substantial safety car period but when the restart came the Yorkshireman seized his opportunity to clinch a memorable victory in front of the onlooking World Endurance Championship fraternity.

Following an incident between Thomas Jennings (G-cat Racing) and Paul McKay (IN2 Racing) at Raidillon on the opening lap, the Safety Car was called and racing was not resumed until 20 minutes into the race. This meant Cammish had to be patient but when the action got back under way, the early season pacesetter made a run down the left of Webster at Les Combes to secure the lead and ultimately the win.
'This is the biggest race of my career," said the delighted former Formula Ford Champion. 'We had to deliver today and we did, so I couldn't be happier. Yesterday I didn't have the speed but today was a totally different story. Even though it was really tough when I passed Josh because of the coolant on track, I always believed I could do it."

Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar and defending champion Webster was happy with the result given the circumstances. 'We had set the car up for a full 45-minute race and gambled that there would be no safety car. Overall it was a fantastic weekend and the results that I have achieved are what championship challenges are built on. It's also great to be recognised as the 'Driver of the Weekend'."

Two-time Carrera Cup GB champion and record race winner Michael Meadows (Samsung SUHD TV Racing) completed the podium and there was also some great racing by Stephen Jelley (Team Parker Racing), Dino Zamparelli (Parr Motorsport) and Victor Jimenez (IN2 Racing) who all had strong drives around the legendary 4.3 mile circuit.

In the Pro-Am1 category, Ignas Gelzinis (Juta Racing) came out on top in a fierce battle with Redline Racing's Jordan Witt. Witt actually crossed the line three tenths ahead of the Lithuanian but was given a retrospective one second penalty which pushed him back into second. In addition, there was just two seconds between Mark Cole (Parr Motorsport), Jack Falla (Redline Racing) and Karl Leonard (Team Parker Racing) in the chasing pack: another indication of just how tight the class is this year.

Graeme Mundy (IN2 Racing) topped a fantastic showing on his return to driving flat-six rear-engined Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars with a fantastic win in the Pro-Am2 category. 'It's great to put yesterday behind me and come out with a win today," commented the experienced Porsche driver. 'I really enjoyed it out there today. In actual fact, I didn't realise we had lost as much time as we had behind the safety car so I was quite surprised when I saw the chequered flag. It's an awesome feeling to win but even sweeter when it's at a track like Spa-Francorchamps."

Iain Dockerill (Asset Advantage Race Team) and Nerijus Dagilis (Juta Racing) rounded off the podium with his Lithuanian teammate Tautvydas Barstys (Juta Racing) and Peter Kyle-Henney (Parr Motorsport) only a few seconds back.

Highlights of both yesterday's and today's race will be shown in a 90-minute special on MotorsTV this evening at 8pm (UK time) with repeats throughout the following week. The next Porsche Carrera Cup GB races will take place at Oulton Park, Cheshire on the weekend of 6 and 7 June.
