Nice renewal £ !

Insurance is so tailored around the driver profile, age, history and location and then in the event of a claim, the excess, who you can use for repairs (bob's bodyshop or Lloyds) and valuation in the event of a total loss etc. that I have given up comparing one person's quote to mine.

I use Mannings and have found them very good (not the cheapest - those cheap quotes are on comparison sites). I can use Porsche OPC for windscreen as opposed to autoglass, use any repairer (including Lloyds) and genuine Porsche original panels (not pattern or after-market ones), have a bolt-on breakdown cover policy just for the Porsche (extra cost) and includes European Cover, Track days (though I have not and will not track my car ever), an agreed valuation valid for 2 years as long as the mileage limit is not exceeded or changed in that duration and a £500 excess. My mileage limit is 5k miles per annum which I elected.

It really is a matter of "you get what you pay for". So a meaningful comparison between premiums is only meaningful once all these dimensions are taken into account.

Are you able to share what the premium service costs?

Did mine with Axa and got a £300 excess.

36 Years old, 14 years NCD, Married with kids. Total Premium £343.00

I do hold IAM Advanced Driver but most companies don't give a discount and even IAM own insurer couldn't beat the Axa quote.

Laughably, I work for an Insurance company (who actually paid for my advanced training) and then told me that they "don't recognise it" when I asked for a quote :floor: To be fair, I chose the course as part of my annual training but it still made me laugh!

This can be interesting: http://www.motorcarinsuranceuk.co.uk/post-code-ratings.php

At first glance, it doesn't always seem to ring true. I have moved from a B rated to C rated area which is much nicer. However, as the area is nicer, quieter etc. it is actually more of a target for vehicle crime with lower risk for the criminal.

The next village from where we used to live was the type of place that cars didn't get stolen from. It was where they ended up! Lower Insurance risk there :)

I just dont get where they get the figures.

Insurance premiums are quite hard to calculate actually. Your Insurance broker will normally do their best to find you the best premium calculated on your age, no claims, location, car etc.
Then they will call a high street stall in Bagdad that specialises in hand woven rugs, for a more accurate figure, time this by the value of 6 and then add £350.

Just renewed my Insurance went with aviva really good think i read somone else recommended on here so gave them ago 478 fully comp im 29 with 5 years NCD they undercut my previous Insurance by over 100 pounds. :D

What about the compulsory excess?

Got renewal down to match internet price from same company - Tesco.

42, Kent, 9 years NCD, 3 points, garaged, comp excess £300.

Quoted £504. Not yet committed...... Let's see of bridle call back this year...!

Having spent a few hours with the specialists for my renewal cheapest I could get was £370 Its a 15 year old standard 996 in a decent area, its a 3rd car, limited miles garaged SDP etc

Priviledge £250 Doesnt have to be kept in a locked garage (although there is an excess difference) automatically allowed business use and a lower excess.

Wonder why the specialists made such a fuss about my powerful car driving history and even suggested that if my wife was only an occasional dirver that she might be an unnaceptable risk to some insurers on such a powerful car, one of them also had very draconian language about cover if the car was not in a locked garage at my address between 10pm and 6 am, so it wouldnt be covered if I came home at 11.30pm and left the car locked on the drive while I go in and get the garage keys!

I'd rather support the specialists but I can't for a 40% higher premium

Classic policy with Aviva coming in at £470 roughly £50 lower than last year even though I've just added £10k to the (increasing) value 8) . I get penalised for living in a decent area because the 'out of area scroats' come a thieving which with the antiquated postcode weighting ramps it up :pc:

I 'could' get it down to c£250 when I played around on the comparison sites but then it woould have to be my main car with my max NCD applied

Got my renewal for £670.

45, car garaged in a se London post code, 11years NCD. Porsche tracker

997 4S

phoned mayfaironline who advertise in 911uk and quoted £380 so very pleased with that.

Kevin.

I've been very happy with Classicline insuring the 993 but now moving on. Very disappointed with adrian f.

I just got an unbelievable and probably unbeatable quote from Admiral for all the cars and my two young daughters on their jazz.
Multi car and young driver policy package. Brilliant.

Now this is interesting..................

I've just gone on confused.com to see what bollox they throw up. Using my max NCD and protecting it I can insure the car for £150 (3k miles) with Privilege.

Now obviously I cant use my max NCD as that is on another car so I amended it to show 1yrs NCD which my current classic Aviva policy will give me. I now get a quote of £262 with PerformanceDirect £550 total excess and 6k miles :? Obviously no track or EU cover.

Confused - yep :?: :?

paid 240 pounds for protected 6000miles per year living on drive me and wife as drivers as already said being 50 plus does help....

Chums, I gave Classicline a call this afernoon. Their 'initial' quote was £560

But then I emailed my 'comparison site' best quoted price of £262. After some 'radio silence' the initial quote was reassessed with a request for £271.

It was a tough choice do I pay the extra £9 when all I get is free home recovery, free legal, EU cover and agreed valuation plus low price (if not nil) track day cover :hand: And an accruable NCB will be applied through the company. :worship:

Job done. Paid up

Useful tips here

Big thanks to cheshire911 in particular as Mannings worked out way cheaper for me than the other providers.

My 996 is a weekend and occasional commute car on top of my co car - classic car use age pattern. I have no no claims. They were able to insure it as a classic car even though it is less than 20years old.

Thanks!
