Is this 3.2 a good buy?

Having had the car that started this thread a few months now and (amazingly) for nearly 2000 miles, I find the 915 fine to use as long as I push the clutch pedal right to the floor, and to be fair, it does say to do this in the handbook. It's not a shift that likes lightning fast changes but can be used swiftly and yes, with two fingers quite easily.

The only time I have trouble, usually going into third, is when I am not concentrating on the shift and been lazy with the clutch.

Interesting. Sounds pretty much like mine. Yes, you have to press the clutch pedal right down and, yes, as clarkycat said previously, First gear from standstill and 3rd to 2nd can be really difficult at times. Perhaps it is as good as can be expected - but I can't imagine they came out of the factory like this ??? I will get a Specialist to drive it and tell me if this is as good as it gets !

Just a thought but would adjusting the clutch cable help?

May also be worth checking the engine mounts to improve shifting.

Do that,
We are spoilt today with gadget ridden comfort, driver aids and power assisted everything. Now people look at cars like the 3.2 (someone's daily driver 30 years ago) and say it's not suitable as a daily. Truth is, it does not wrap itself around you and drive itself, there is a bit of character in there, which you can tell, I miss.

Just replaced the linkage bushes on mine £40 and an hours work, easy job, improved by about 70% overall. Give it a try :thumb:

I thought it was such a good buy that I bought it! :D

Collected it last weekend, pic is a quick stop on the way home. Basically it's a good solid car that needs some tidying. Previous owner had quite a lot of work done with the local PCGB recommended specialist including rust repairs and a top end overhaul.

My first step into Porsche ownership and not my usual sort of car but impressed so far.

I'm selling a project 911SC for £8000 if anyone is interested? no engine but body in original solid condition.
