Porsche Cayenne Diesel 957 anyone got one?"

Thanks for the info Roeth - thankfully my car is a 2009 model so I avoid the issues! :thumb:

Well, the new family car is now here...

Can't believe how good the ride quality is on 21" wheels and air suspension - BMW X5 on 20" wheels and SE suspension was enough to shake my fillings out...

Only driven 200 miles so far, but I'm really impressed :D
Congrats, looks a beaut.
Have just come from a 997.2 C4S Cab to a 12 plate Cayenne Diesel myself. Air suspension is just dreamy. Lovin every minute, sure you will too.

Cayenne diesel, anyone got one?

Hi fellow 911UK'ers, I've been looking to change the family bus for a few months (Lexus RX 4x4) and waited patiently for my local VW dealer to receive their allocated MK7 Golf GTI, I wanted to love this car, but was left feeling I could do better for my 30k.

This has now lead me to test drive an X5, and a Cayenne 3.0 Diesel, much to my delight, Mrs UK loved the big Porsche, the model I'm looking at is an '09, with full supplying dealer history, I called them today, the service manager told me it was a nice example, had no issues to report during its recent service, and should provide many trouble free years.

So questions, does anyone own, or have experience of the Oil burning Porker?
Any issues I should be aware of before I take the plunge, (yes I know it's ugly!) and what big bills might lie ahead?
Just looking for real life fact, thanks folks :)
Scott.

Maybe a little small for your needs but my missus runs a q5 diesel.
Its a fantastic car to drive and suffers very little depreciation if you spec an s line...the new cayenne seems to have more than a little nod to the Audi styling wise also.

Thanks Kas, two kids, and two dogs, but if I was looking at a Golf then a Q5 should be more than big enough, the Audi does look good in S-Line trim, but I'm finding them very expensive in 3.0 Auto spec, defo one to look out for though.
Cheers.
Scott.

They drive like a real sports SUV, after which any BMW, Range Rover feels like a Bananna.

Reliable = Yes
Worth buying from an OPC or get one with an OPC warranty

Fuel economy is 50% better than the V8 Diesel, but except 20 mpg in Town and 26 mpg on the Motorway

It's heavy and the VW 3.0 lumps could have been better but not helped by lugging around the unnecessary weight of the low range gearbox

Any cars you have seen ?

The one I'm keen on is at Alan Storrar cars Perth, we drove it yesterday, not over the top on spec, but it is in very good condition, I also called the OPC detailed in the service book, they confirmed the car had a clean bill of health back in March this year, also offering a free health check if I proceed with the purchase, which was nice to hear , all up, it appears to be a lot of car for little cash, although I am aware It will lose money like a china man in a casino!

Thanks for the info, it was very, very nice to drive

I've merged your topic with the last time we chatted about the 957 Diesel, so have a look at the earlier posts on this thread.

£24 is damn good value with only 60k on the clock, down in London that would be at least plus £2k car

they seem to have listed every standard option, but you have PCM3 (sat Nav), Heated Seats, Privacy Glass and Steering Wheel Controls, which are all the must haves

Worth checking life left on Brakes and Tyres which could be due at 60k miles

Otherwise after 3 months of ownership worth slapping on an OPC warranty, it costs but is worth it's weight in gold

Also check those 20" Techno Alloys are genuine Porsche

Thanks for your input and time.

We are going to view it again tomorrow, how do I know if the wheels are genuine or not? OPC didn't mention anything about them today.

The looking, and shopping is over, bought the Cayenne today!

His and hers Porsches, how much of a d!ck will I look to the neighbours?

Unfortunately I'm away offshore for a month at the beginning of next week, so my lucky Mrs will have the privilege of the first drive when the garage deliver it after it has had some new brakes, and the plate change come through, just hoping it proves to be every bit as reliable as old Lexi has been.

Thanks to those who helped me here.
