Porsche has just announced that it is recalling 2,263 911 Carrera models after internal testing concluded that the tailpipes could crack and fall off on 2012 and 2013 models.

Only the base Carrera and Carrera 4 models equipped only with the standard exhaust system are affected, meaning all Carrera's with optional sports exhaust systems are not under threat of failure.

Cars effected are those manufactured from 7 March 2012 through to 12 November 2012.

According to the recall report, the tailpipe may crack, which can result in the pipe breaking free from the muffler and fall onto the road while you are driving, In such a case, the 911 may become a hazard for other vehicles on the road, increasing the risk of a crash.

...after 50 years you would think our German friends could ensure that an element of your new 911's exhaust can't fall off :floor:

Never learn.....

they had the same recall on my 05 997S back in 2006/7 ..... pretty much same problem 8 years ago!

I note that PGB have asked all affected 991 drivers to take it their cars to the newly appointed central welding centre.

I don't think that the exhaust is that old. :hand:

Well, if only Porsche put as much effort into designing Carrera exhausts as 911uk does with its graphics
