The official sales launch 918 Spyder has also given rise to a new version of the current 911 Turbo, but only if you folk out £650k for a 918 Spyder !

To shorten the time the customer has to wait for the 918 Spyder, Porsche is offering everyone placing an order the exclusive opportunity to acquire a 911 Turbo S 'Edition 918 Spyder", also limited to no more than 918 units. Visually, both inside and out, the special edition is inspired by the 918 Spyder's characteristic individual features.

That includes the distinctive acid green features such as the specific and part-embroidered model logos and seams, the instrument cluster needles, the specific PCM screen and illuminated door entry guards. The limited edition badge on the glove compartment lid bears the same number as the 918 Spyder the customer has ordered. The 911 Turbo S 'Edition 918 Spyder" can also be ordered in the same colour.

The catchily titled 911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder will be available only to buyers of the 918. Priced at £125,865 (Coupé) and £133,553 (Cabriolet), the new edition has bright green detailing to echo the colours used on the 2010 918 Spyder concept, plus an enhanced leather interior and carbonfibre trim. It can also be ordered in the same colour as the customer's 918 Spyder and will carry the same numbered plate.

Porsche is still expected to squeeze in one more technical evolution of the 997-edition 911 before the current generation bows out in the autumn. Due in late spring, the last hurrah is expected to be an ultra-hardcore 4.0-litre version of the GT3 RS.

Are they adding LSD to the water supply in Baden-Württemberg?

LSD?

More like a combination of LSD, DOM, psilocybin, 5-meO-DMT, MDA, MDMA, 2cb, ketamine, DXM, anti-chlorogenics, muscimol, crystal-meth, mushrooms and cannabis...

Imo Porsche are currently losing the plot wrt good taste interiors.. I really struggled to find anything that didn't look like a deck chair or a pimps boudoir when speccing up my TTS. Really solid black is the classiest choice at the mo, Porsche should take a good look at Ferrari, for quality leathers and interior colours.... YMMV imo etc

Sounds like a particularly heavy weekend :hand:

In fairness that shade of green is not doing anyone any favours.

So, we can now order a 918 Spyder...

- But only if you can afford £673k

- And can wait till November 2013

Although, Porsche is very considerately offering buyers the "opportunity" to purchase a 911 Turbo with stupid lime green badges for a mere £125k.

Hah ha ha ha ha!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Genius :floor:

I can see somebody's thinking behind this; for those 918 buyers who cannot wait until 2013 to rub everyone elses noses in it that they are 'considerably richer than yow!' by tearing past in their 918, Porsche offer them the opportunity to buy a Turbo which may aswell carry a large advertising board on top saying 'I couldn't wait to tell the world how rich I am!!'

I'm sure they could sell them on at a premium to those pretentious people who want to pretend that they can afford a 918!!

Or am I just being cynical...................

How long before 'Edition 918 Spyder' in lime green appears along the door of someone's '97 cooking boxter?? :hand:
